Hotel's Favourite
Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa was an excellent place to spend a memorable Christmas vacation with our family.

The safeness of the environment, security, amenities, choices of food and beverages, entertainment, activities, staff who are professional, kind, helpful and so friendly, and lots of fun in the sun with swimming pools, tanning areas, on-beach volleyball, and more! Suites are luxurious marble floors, slate stone on walls granite kitchen countertops, a deep soaker tub, King size bed in the master suite with multiple murphy beds throughout, and fully furnished balconies with the most beautiful view of the mountains, marina, ocean, and city. If you're looking for a safe, beautiful, and relaxing resort look no further book your travels and stay in Los Cobos, Mexico at the Playa Grande Resort and Grand Spa!!

Cabo San Lucas overall is a fabulous place to vacation, relax and unwind. It's a very clean, safe, and glorious city. Highly recommend it for your travel destination 10 of 10.

The Playa Grande Resort and Spa has manicured buildings and grounds and the staff are so attentive to the Resort's guests. Many of the guests take part in the numerous entertainment events around the pool and led by the energy and effervescence of Roberto and Samba.
Our suite was clean, well appointed and everything worked as it should. The Resort has a convenient location approximately a six block stroll from the Marina and the edge of the Cabo downtown district. The resort is right on the Sea of Cortez. The resort has several restaurants. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Ismael is an especially efficient and attentive waiter in the Cambina restaurant. Theme night dinners are fun---guests will want to attend the Mexican Fiesta Theme Night dinner. This is a resort to enjoy all the amenities, service, food, and activities offered.

Went for our first south of the border Christmas vacation and had a great time. The location was amazing and the hotel was not that crowded so it felt like we had the resort all to ourselves.  The service was excellent and attention to detail by the staff was great to see. (Watching the meticulously precise omelette making by Francisco was a site to see).

The Mexican fiesta was so much fun and the MC was amazing.

The location right in the beach is perfect for watching the water and seeing whales migrate a hundred yards off the shore was a unique experience. We definitely loved the location.

The staff was incredibly responsive and friendly.

Cons
We had the all inclusive which we highly recommend even though the food and drink was ok, not great.  For example, all the desserts tasted like they had freezer burn despite the good presentation.  The drinks  were relatively watered down but if you ordered them as doubles they came out fine.

The music choices are confounding and make little sense.  We couldn’t spend time by the pool because it was was way too loud and sounded like we were in a vegas pool party on sprint break, not a relaxing adult vacation.  But if you want you can drag a beach chair to the sand to get an unobstructed view of the ocean and get your own private beach view.  Everyone we talked to similarly complaining.

The wifi also was somewhat wonky and not very fast, sometimes took a few times to log in.

The room had a view of the ocean and was very spacious but the shower was schizophrenic and went hot to cold and back again at random.  The bathroom’s were great but the tub could be difficult to get into and out of if you have mobility issues

Finally the hard sell time share and excursions was disappointing.  After a long plane ride the last thing anyone is going to want is a sales pitch for 30 minutes.  This was entirely unnecessary.  I’m sure some people who would be interested would be just as interested if they were emailed choices before coming to the resort.  Or maybe checked in after experiencing the location for a few days.  I was literally pursued in the lobby more than once by the same woman with a clip board.
On the whole we had a fabulous time and highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a mid range vacation experience with an attentive staff and great location. Great for families or couples.  We are already looking in to making reservations for next year.

We got a great deal on the hotel for our stay over MLK weekend. Prior to our trip, we received an email from a concierge offering to set up shuttles, extra services, whatever we needed which was great. The hotel shuttle was 21/person each way, we opted for this to get into the hotel which worked out great because taxis from the airport are expensive.

Upon arriving, check in took a while. We were made to sign a waiver which stated we couldn't get into the water. I didn't research properly and didn't realize that the hotel is located on the Pacific Ocean side which means no swimming, swimming is only allowed on the Sea of Cortez. Check in took a bit of time and were were told we would need to come back in the morning for our "welcome package" which included key cards for towels.

Well...the welcome package consisted of a woman trying to get us to attend a time share presentation, attending the presentation would get us a $400 USD credit at the hotel (we didn't purchase all-inclusive). After refusing several times, the woman called my husband over, without asking me if this was ok, and tried to sell him on it. This was very upsetting. We then received our key cards for towels, the cards are annoying as you need to remember to bring them with you to check towels in and out every time you go to the pool, which means you walk back to your room without a towel.

We weren't given a tour of the grounds which was unfortunate as we didn't fully check out the entire grounds until the day we left as we decided to walk back a different route to our room.

The resort itself was beautiful, but my biggest issue was that they try to charge you for everything if you're not all-inclusive. My husband got ready and tried to get into the gym and they said he couldn't use it because of the rate we paid, that was ridiculous. Wifi? Not included and was really expensive. Want to order in food? Get ready to walk down the hill because they won't let the delivery folks drive up to the hotel.

The food at the restaurants was pricy $22 for a hamburger with fries, $10 for guacamole and the food was just ok.

I am a timeshare owner on the Ridge at Playa Grande, but took advantage of Playa Grande's Cinco de Mayo sale to book an extra visit to Playa Grande with my 24-year old daughter and her friend. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by Playa Grande's COVID-19 safety protocols. Temperatures taken, hand sanitizer was plentiful, masks required, bottom of shoes cleaned, and the luggage was sanitized with a spray. Every staff member had sufficient PPE to interact safely with guests. We took advantage of the $84 per day meal plan for three of the days and found it to be well worth the price. Hotel capacity was limited to 30%, so we felt safe at all times because physical distancing was not hard to maintain. There was never more than 5 or 6 people in a pool at any one time. We were so pleased with our oceanfront master suite in Building A; we loved the view! Food at Calima, Brigatine and by the pool was excellent; no bad meals during our stay. The wait staff were very attentive and so happy to interact with guests again. I can't say enough about how safe we felt while at Playa Grande; safer than being in Wisconsin where nobody seems to understand the concept of masks and physical distancing. If you are long overdue for a relaxing vacation, Playa Grande is the place to be. You won't regret a moment of your time there.

I have been coming to Playa Grande for 19 years. This is one hotel that strives to be better every year after year and maintains their property as if it just opened. The past two years we have bought the all inclusive for three days and find it well worth it. We have a 7 year old daughter who loves the kids club. It’s included with the all inclusive package and is a nice place for your child to spend the day filled with fun activities. Gabriella and Myra are fantastic with the children. The pool area is fantastic! The pool side service is great and the staff is very friendly. The only complaint I have is with the middle pool with the swim up bar. It’s time for the pool to be resurfaced. It’s very hard on your feet since pool bottom is very sharp. The two other upper pools are wonderful. Humberto and Roberto and the rest of the entertainment staff keep everyone on their toes with fun activities around the pool with water aerobics and tequila volleyball. They do have water ballon fights also which I am not a fan of since you can get injured if you aren’t paying attention as balloons are thrown all around the pool deck. Roberto makes the Mexican fiesta on Monday nights amazing and is well worth staying on property for (also included in the all inclusive). If you are without children and want a quite relaxing pool side experience the lower pool by the beach is for adults only. There is also a brand new swim up pool bar that is great to enjoy some cocktails and food. The rooms are great. We have a one bedroom which sleeps three adults and one child. Three areas that could improve. One is the sofa bed. It’s not very comfortable since the upper half where your head is and the lower half so not have the same support. The small Murphy bed is pretty much useless. We do use the cushion for my daughter but we put it on the floor. I wouldn’t let anyone actually sleep on the Murphy bed. The last issue is with the WiFi. It’s horrible in the hotel rooms. In 2020 the WiFi should be much much better. Overall my family and I love coming to Cabo every year and feel like Playa Grande is our second home.

The hotel was beautiful and the luxury suite was a good choice and had ample room for us to relax after being under the sun. We purchased the meal plan which some people think it’s all inclusive like Cancun resorts. However, the meal plan does not include everything. Also, be aware most Cabo resorts don’t have all inclusive. There are lots of places to eat outside the hotel. We witnessed a younger couple get upset and argue with the restaurant staff due to the meal plan, apparently they didn’t read the details provided at check in.We played the mini golf course during the day under the hot sun and then tried to play again at 6pm, but it was closed. They should change the hours so people can enjoy when it’s cooler in the evening without the sun.
Service was mostly good at all areas. The Calima Restaurant was somewhat slow with dinner service. I’m guessing they are short staffed in the kitchen.
Our favorite place to get good food and drinks was the sports bar near the lobby area. Not only did they provide great food, but you’ll be taken care by the great people like Ofelia & Samuel who we will miss.

Although we would recommend staying here, there are some things we would recommend to management and alert future visitors. The hotel has some good Covid-19 policies in place and we liked how they provide hand sanitizer and keep the public areas clean. They also have signs up in most places that inform visitors to wear mask and practice social distancing. Unfortunately, most people don’t follow the mask rules and the staff should do a better job at enforcing and requiring people to follow the rules or leave. As my partner and I are both in the healthcare field, we were disappointed when the hotel had activities like pool volleyball, Mexican Fiesta & Beach Party for the visitors. These activities had no social distancing measures that they had posted on their signs. Tables wear close together, no mask and at one point had 40-50 people dancing all together on a stage. We didn’t attend, but watched from the beach area far from the event. I understand the hotel wants to entertain guest, but they should cancel all events until there is a vaccine. Guest can still enjoy a vacation in Cabo without parties. If guest want to party, they should stay in their Florida and Texas states. We pray that those people who attended these festivities don’t get sick soon.

We recently stayed at Playa Grande for A Family Girls trip. We exchanged through RCI and reserved the penthouse suites which were 2 full bedrooms with 3 baths, full kitchens minus an oven and very large living areas. Check in was a breeze and our rooms were cleaned very well every day!. we opted in for the optional All Inclusive package for 4 days which was perfect and included everything we wanted. The Mexican Fiesta Night and The Beach Party were lots of fun. The pools were kept very clean as was the entire facility. Our food was always good with more than we usually wanted and the drinks were nonstop!. I have to mention several people that went out of their way to make us happy and comfortable during our week long stay!
Roberto - entertainment was hysterical. Umberto - entertainment was just as great!. Gabriella- entertainment was a great water aerobics leader! Our waiters at the pool and restaurants who were exceptional: Miriam, (your smile and upbeat personality was great), Hector, Daniel, Tequilla Theo, Jose, Jesus and Abraham worked so hard!
They truly helped make this trip so Nice. Ileana, for your patience at our checkin!!
Our beds were comfortable, The concierge was helpful and our extra meal at Picaro at Rancho San Lucas was delightful and delicious!
My only complaint is to have more American change at the front desk for us to exchange in order to leave tips!
We also went out on Cabo Blu. one afternoon which was loads of fun!
The location of the resort is extremely close to the marina and easy walking distance to the shops, boats and downtown. The covid precautions they took here were excellent!

First let me say I'm a mom of two kiddos who is SUPER cautious about germs. This place does a GREAT job with mask wearing and is very clean. They "clean" your luggage as soon as you arrive and we saw then wiping down the counters after each guest finished checking in. This gave me great hope. There are signs everywhere that state mask wearing is required but I was very disappointed in Americans who chose to disregard their rules. I found it to be very rude and annoying. Our 9 year old was very good about walking around EVERYWHERE with her mask but grown adults couldn't do the same...so sad. At any rate, we kept our distance, wore our masks and used their sanitizer they provided to us everywhere we went (the resort provides masks and hand sanitizer upon check in and throughout the resort).

One of the main reasons we chose the resort was their ability to be an all inclusive resort. Definitely take advantage of this! It was well worth it but keep in mind you should definitely tip after each meal. Keep in mind it is better to tip the waiters in cash versus adding it to your room as they don't get the full tip once it's been processed by the resort. Also, our pool waiter did such a great job (I wish I knew his name). We gave him a $20 before he took our order and he was super gracious to us the entire time of our pool stay that day.

We also bought the airport transportation which was nice but keep in mind when picking you up from the airport there may be other passengers going to other resorts. It took us longer to get to the resort and was a bit nervous being so close to others in a small space but thankfully everyone wore their masks.

Lastly, we traveled with our toddler and I wasn't sure how to handle his sleeping arrangements. Our King size suite had a cute piece of furniture that had a fold out bed that was just perfect for him. The resort did offer babysitting arrangements for a fee but we didn't want to do this due to the pandemic. The resorts daily child activities was also closed due to the pandemic but the staff did have daily crafts for the kiddos (for a fee).

All in all it was a great stay and we will be back! As a platinum member of Carnival Cruise this was a game changer for us! Thank you!!

I have been coming to this resort for the past 28 years when they only had one building and no entrance. This is by far one of my favorite resorts because it’s more on the quiet side, the way the resort is built in a “V” shape, almost all the rooms have some kind of view, the rooms are larger and you get a full size kitchen. More importantly, this resort has always been very very clean and well maintained.
Imagine how impressed I was on my visit this year with the coronavirus! From the airport, our luggage was sanitized and again when we arrived at the hotel. There were temperature checks, hand sanitizers and also foot sanitizers before entering the airport, upon exiting the airport, and again into and out of every facility, retails shop, hotel and every where you went.
I could not be more please for booking during this time and being taken care of at Play Grande like VIP, not many visitors as places are just opening up here and the service is as excellent as ever! We love the resort activities and partake in it all! Thank you to the amazing Playa Grande Team who made it all possible for us and especially Franco, Itzel, Gabriella, Vivy, Jose, Julio Cesar and everyone else
