Our stay started when we flew in about noon and I asked if we could check in early. The staff very politely said no but took our name just in case they could get us in a little earlier. About an hour later they were able to let us check in...much earlier than I expected. The public areas and our room were both clean. Our limited interactions with the staff were all positive. Both the pool and beach were great. We really have no actual complaints and my son is already planning our next stay. Some things I would really love to see as the hotel grows and progresses is shuttle to the aquarium...uber is super sparse and the bus/trolley are unreliable as they are often running very behind. And it would be super cool if mini brooms were available in rooms to limit the sandy floors. Those aren't real complaints though. Our stay was wonderful! Oh one more thing maybe better label the beach boundaries for newbies like us...our first day we had to move when the staff from the hotel next door told us we were on their private beach we literally went a few feet over. No big deal but just a little help

First the staff could not be more efficient. From check in, housekeeping, the bar, security, management and check out, this team was great. But you almost had to drag me out of this hotel. A fabulous view. Overlooking the pool, the beach, the tiki bar. There was a wonderful parade of boats throughout the day. The Shark boat, the Tiki Hut, the Pirate Ship. If only our grandchildren would have been here. The sunset was spectacular right from the balcony of our room. The umbrella and chairs were set up on the beach and ready to go. The lobby had beach towels on loan. Our room was not only clean, but bright and comfortable. A refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, but lots of space in our room and a moveable desk that made everything else flow in the room. The plugs on the lamps made it easy to charge device and flip on our netflix. The parking garage was easy to access. So was everything. Just steps away and you where you wanted to be. The pool was a perfect temperature. You could see the fish swimming in the ocean near the beach, the water was so clear. We looked down into the water and could actually pick the shells out of the ocean. We even saw Dolphins about 6 times on our two day stay. But even better, right across the street was a market, a souvenier shop, ice cream store, coffee bar. We really did not need a car and the trolley stop was right in front of the hotel. I cant wait to go back. You don't want to miss the easy vacation spot. I wish I could live there. Oh, and dont miss the excellent complimentary latte you can have in the lobby every morning.

Found this location after the first hotel was cancelled due to Eta. A great price for a top floor ocean view room. Sat out on the balcony and enjoyed drinks and had live music outside next to the pool. Opened the drapes to enjoy the sunrise. Room and bathroom were clean. Pool was warm and clean. Unlike some hotels on the same strip, it had a private beach. Bring your own beach blanket or towels if you don't want to spend $20 on the loungers and umbrella. It also has an on-prem outdoor bar for some drinks, but also walking distance to a ton of great outdoor restaurants. Walking distance to the public beach and a took a long walk all the way down past Pier 60. Felt safe in the hotel with guests being masked. Stayed away from some dance floors down the strip where there wasn't as many masks, but plenty of room to spread out and have a drink, enjoy live music, and evenings by the Gulf. All in all, can't wait to get back down at some point for more evenings at WTD Beach Club.

This was the 5th year of me and my family staying here. The past 4 times it was still the quality beach resort and I have to say I miss that. For starters, we arrived at 10a.m. On Friday morning. I let the front desk know we was in town knowing that check in was at 4p.m. In hopes that they would get us in a little early like they have in the past. I checked back at 1 and was told it’s be an hour. Checked back at 2 and was told the same thing. Checked back at 3 and it still wasn’t ready. Finally got in at 3:53 thanks to Rafael at the front desk. Then realized later that the pool closed at 8:30 unlike in the past it stayed open until midnight. So the kids were disappointed with that obviously. Also, the pool bar closed at the same time which is ridiculous. They also used to have live music more often. Next thing is, it took me 4 days and three times of talking to someone at the front desk to get my room cleaned. I understand that there are still some rules set because of COVID but 4 days is ridiculous. A light cleaning and fresh towels would be nice especially for the amount of money you spend to stay here. The private beach is nice as usual but seems less kept up than in the past. No drink service like before. We really like this place especially for the beach and the location but it feels like they have targeted this place more towards small kids now that it’s changed. I would still recommend to some people but I believe we’ll be making a change next time.

Hi FarAway39265873448, Thank you for taking an opportunity to share your experience with us - although we're disappointed to hear that your stay left more to be desired. While we always make our best effort to accommodate early arrivals, this is not always something that is possible due to housekeeping operations and varied times of departing guests - while we were unable to get you in early, i'm glad to hear that we were able to accommodate you by our guaranteed check-in time. With our renovations and rebranding in 2020, our hotel was retrofitted to become 100% sea-turtle friendly which requires many changes to our exterior lighting. One of these features changed was pool area lighting to protect nesting sea turtles, which has required the change of our pool closing at sunset due to safety reasons. I will be sure that your concerns on housekeeping service and beach service are addressed as these areas seem to be ones in which lapses in service may have occurred. I appreciate you bringing these to our attention. Again, I thank you for taking the time to share your experience and hope that we may be able to accommodate you or some of your better suited friends and family with a more pleasant stay in the future. Travel safely! Adam Winning, General Manager

This hotel has I think changed owners from Quality Inn to Winter the Dolphin Hotel. They started their renovations as of Jan. 2020. The rooms have been updated. There is a private beach behind the hotel. The room's price is not too bad for Clearwater Beach. Unfortunately they charged an extra 94.05 for 3 nights for parking and a Dolphin Aquarium fee. This fee does not offer anything with it. You have to pay $20 a day for beach chairs. They do not have a shuttle to the Clearwater Aquarium. The rooms are clean, but I would recommend that either the hotel puts a broom in each room or bring one from home. You are on the beach so a lot of sands comes in with you after swimming in the ocean. There is a awesome grocery store across the street that has a lot of things you might need. You can walk to a bunch of restaurants and stores. There is a bar and a pool on the property. Staff was friendly. The room offers a refrigerator and microwave. There is also this roll away table that can be used to eat meals in your room. When you are done it can be put away leaving more space in the room.

Hi NicoleLandseadel, Happy Belated Anniversary, and thank you for choosing to celebrate with us! We appreciate you taking a few moments to share some feedback about your stay, and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time overall. We indeed did just recently complete a re-branding to Winter the Dolphin's Beach Club and we are excited to continue the process of re-imagining the hotel and all that it has to offer, and we appreciate the additional insight you have provided as we plan for the future! As part of our partnership with Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) - there is a nightly Resort Conservation Fee as you indicated of $9.95. While this collection goes directly to CMA to benefit the work that they do there, at the hotel level we have also introduced several amenities that are provided at no additional cost as well such as complimentary eco-friendly water upon arrival, 24/7 access to Clearwater Beach Fitness, complimentary Wi-Fi, and beach/pool towels. I'd like to thank you again for sharing a detail account of your experience - and I hope that we can have the opportunity to share in celebrating your anniversary again next year! Travel safely, and we hope to see you again soon, Adam Winning,General Manager adam.winning@wintersbeachclub.com

We just stayed at this newly renovated resort. While rooms are brighter, it’s not nearly as enjoyable as it was and that had nothing to do with covid. We really enjoyed previous visits before the name and ownership change. They now charge high rates and it’s simply not worth it.
First when I booked I specifically asked if the restaurant connected was open and if they still waived $20 daily parking fee for handicapped parking. Yes to both I was told. At check in turned out a big NO! There are 2 handicapped parking spaces outside the garage. They don’t allow parking there though. Can’t get the $20 that way. The manager did lower it to $10 but handicapped should not have to pay at all. Or you certainly should not tell guests it’s waived before booking.
Lots of rules. Now you can’t bring your own beach chairs or coolers to beach. Everything has to be purchased through them.
Our phone didn’t work. TV didn’t work. Let them know but never had maintenance come up.
Had to get new key cards twice in 2 day stay. They didn’t work either.
The staff was friendly but it didn’t seem like they really cared. The only person who was helpful with local information was Justin, the valet.
And it was noisy!! We were on south side of building and both mornings there were deliveries and service folks in and out. They weren’t only loud, they were very foul mouthed! Not family friendly at all. Oh and for family friendly, they allowed photo shoot of 2 nearly naked women on the beach both days. This was not sports illustrated! This was skank all the way.
We love visiting the are but will certainly look for a different hotel next time.

Hi mrsdvc, Thank you for taking some time to share your feedback with us regarding your recent stay. While it is always disappointing to hear about an experience that did not meet your expectations - we genuinely do appreciate the feedback whether negative or positive so that we can continue to work on improving our services and our offerings at the hotel. We certainly understand that there have been many changes here on property since rebranding from Quality Inn to the Ascend Collection, and it's disappointing to hear that some of those changes may have left a negative impression of our hotel after you've enjoyed other stays. Your feedback will be shared with our team in our efforts to continuously improve on our service level - and we will be sure to address the photos that may have been taken at our beach as well as this was not something that was cleared and approved by our team, and likely something that took place by a guest on their own. However, it is absolutely a teaching moment for our team to ensure that we are approaching situations such as this correctly and maintaining the family friendly atmosphere that we strive for. Again, we apologize for any negative experiences that you may have encountered and hope that we might have an opportunity to better serve you again in the future. We wish you safe travels, and hope that we might see you again should your travels bring you back to Clearwater Beach. Adam Winning, General Manager

We have stayed a few times. Always half good half bad everytime. The negatives is paying $60 in parking, fitness amenities and 2 boxed waters in the room. Small parking garage is shared with neighbor hotel.Just a 6 minute walk down the main road sidewalk to the beach ( but it's the busiest spot in clearwater by the pier). Now the positives! Florida Medical Marijuana Dispensary within walking distance! As a resident with a medical card this is amazing! There is pool/beach bar. The beach area is man made with the view of under the bridge where the boats fight the tidal currents of the ocean and bay. Very entertaining to watch and gives you a different perspective of the bay/ocean inlet. You can swim at the beach but stay close in the shallows because of the boaters and current. We somehow always end up with a room with a view of the neighboring condo but we still get a great sunrise view and you can walk to the pool area for sunset view. There's "Taco Bus" within walking distance. Yummy food and good backstory. This past weekend was early spring breakers so it's getting wild🙂

This property is in need of a complete overhaul. Upon our arrival, the front desk greeted us with minimal enthusiasm and provided very limited information about amenities available to us. Our room was not impressive at all, paint peeling on the walls, the door to the balcony did not close properly, a gap in the window sill and just downright dingy, although I could go on with other issues. The only positive thing about this property was Cabanas (the onsite restaurant), where the food was good and the staff (at Cabanas) were very friendly.
We would not return to this property or recommend it to anyone traveling to the Clearwater Beach area.

I really only booked this property because we are in peak season and my friend wanted a hotel right on the beach. Parking was easy, although they do charge for parking. Check in was effortless, and we were given a voucher for 1 beach chair. Getting towels from the front desk was also easy.
We booked a room with partial ocean view. If you went on the balcony, you could look to the right and see the beach, but mostly we were looking out at the parking lot below. The rooms aren't bad. No carpeting. There is a mini fridge, microwave, and keurig. The towels are small and not soft. You may wish to bring your own if you have a preference for big, fluffy towels. Toiletries were severely lacking. We had one small round disc to wash our hands with, like, less than a usual travel size. One tiny tube of lotion. The shampoo and body wash is in all-in-one, in a dispenser. The conditioner was completely empty and the body wash was low. Obviously, housekeeping doesn't check them daily.
It was pretty quiet for the most part.
Since we there for a 2 night stay, I expected our room to be cleaned daily. It wasn't.
Food service at the bar and restaurant downstairs was good, and the staff was pleasant. There is a liquor store, and a couple of gift shops across the street.
There's also a great italian restaurant called Gondolier Pizza right down the street as well.
If you want to hit up some other local bars/lounges, you are a short walk from the Hilton rooftop bar next door, and Shepard's beach bar next to that.
The private beach is a small inlet, and guests are prohibited from bringing their own umbrellas and chairs, but the staff of Cabana's will gladly bring you any food or drink you'd want.

Very disappointed! Beach is postage stamp size, rooms are not worth the price or points even though it is “on the beach”. They pass the place as renovated. They slapped some paint on the walls, new floors, put up some newer pics, maybe new side tables Two drawers for clothing, so don’t plan to stay long. They charge a$9.95 a day activity fee which includes the use of the fitness center that isn’t open. They pass as they are Eco friendly, yet no Eco friendly water refilling station. I have no problem paying for something that is worth the cost, this place isnt it. The good, $8 rum runner! We won’t be back. Many other choices that are much better and worth the money!

As one other person commented they share a parking garage but are 2 different hotels. If you book a Dolphin room that is where you will be. I don't recall city view at the Dolphin but I really didn't pay that much attention. We have stayed at both places, the Hampton is a little more upscale then the Dolphin, but the Dolphin seems more homey and relaxed atmosphere.

no they don't offer free breakfast. They do have a wonderful restaurant downstairs that has breakfast. I also walk over to Shephards, 3 doors down, they have a grab and go teas/coffees, breakfast sandwiches, fruit etc. It is alot more affordable if you are on a budget. Also the "island market" across the street is where we go to buy drinks, snacks, other incidentals. The hotel rooms have refrigerators and microwaves.
