Upon arriving at this hotel I was greeted by staff members who assisted with luggage from the Taxi. Stepping into the lobby it was very grand and staff were very pleasant and welcoming. I noticed there was nowhere to sit unless you go into the restaurant or café on the ground floor.

Location wise this hotel is very close to a subway station (Tameike-sannō) and taxis are plentiful with one always available. It is in the Roppongi District and is a good base to get to most tourist destinations. It is also not too far from the famous Imperial Hotel in Tokyo and also Tokyo Station.

Checking in at the Ambassador desk was excellent. I did not get the staff members name but she was certainly very helpful and informative speaking fluent Japanese and English and acknowledging IHG status and informing of all available benefits and amenities and assisting with luggage storage until the room was ready. (which was actually very quickly) Luggage was later bought up to our room ready for us before we arrived.

While we were waiting for our room we took the opportunity to try the lunch buffet at the Cascade cafe on the ground floor and I had to say I was very impressed with the quality and range of food and the waiter service for a buffet. This hotel actually has a large number of restaurants and bars of different cuisines including Japanese, Chinese, Steakhouse and more and also of course an Intercontinental Club lounge. We also had breakfast at the Cascade café which I am pleased to say also had a large variety of choices and excellent service. Notably much more busy during breakfast service than the lunchtime.

The upgraded suite we were given was of a very large size and certainly humungous for Japan hotel room standards. The interior was very modern and the view from the room was nice and even better at night time being that we were on a very high floor. The room was split into three separate areas all separated by sliding doors, A living room, Bedroom and bathroom/toilet with separate walk in shower and bath tub. When all the sliding doors were opened the suite seemed very spacious.

I didn't have time to use the pool but I did manage to see it from above, it looked very large. Likewise did not have time to use the club lounge on this occasion however I wanted to have a quick look to see what is was like. During our quick visit I was greeted by some of the most courteous and polite club lounge staff I have met across the world at InterContinental's. This is definitely one of the nicest and largest Club lounges I seen in an Intercontinental and on my next stay I would certainly make use of this. One of the things to note is that all the bars in the hotel were all closed early so we was unable to get a drink relatively early around 10pm. Might have been that particular day of the week.

Upon checkout the staff member at the ambassador desk Hiromoni Nagano was excellent and assisted with the check out process swiftly and helped me to get a taxi for my onwards destination. This left a very good impression of the Intercontinental ANA Tokyo. When back in Tokyo I would definitely consider this Intercontinental again!

We had an exceptional stay at this lovely hotel. Particularly recommend the club level rooms, which are remarkably good value if you are likely to take advantage of breakfast, afternoon tea and evening hot canapes, buffet and cocktails in the lounge. We loved it - all the staff tended to us so meticulously, and supervisor Yasuyo was extraordinary.

I was in Japan on business and had to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival to meet government requirements. This meant I had to stay inside my hotel room for the entirety of the two weeks.

Check in was fine. The staff was friendly.

The room was very dated. It was something I would expect from a more run down holiday inn express, not a Intercontinental branded hotel. The chairs were so old one of them collapsed while I was sitting in it watching TV ( I weigh 165 lbs). When I made my reservation there was no option to select a modern room so I guess it's luck of the draw.

I had to order out for my meals since I was required to stay in my room. I ordered three or four times from the hotel menu and was very disappointed in both the quality and quantity of the meals. I used Uber eats for the rest of my meals but the hotel charged a 500 yen "convenience fee" every time I had food delivered. This bothered me as it came across as a straight money grab taking advantage of my situation.

I've been a platinum member with IHG for like 8 years but received no acknowledgement or benefits for being such.

I was in Tokyo for three months for work. I had planned staying at the ANA for the entirety of my trip however after this experience I elected to move to the Hilton on Odaiba where I had a much better experience.

DO NOT TRUST THE 5 star rating. This hotel is old, dated, and filthy. We had two rooms here for our family of five over Christmas & New Year. Black mold encased our toilet and bidet, and the sink had pink mold. Due to the run down condition of the bathroom our room never stopped smelling bad, like sewage. There was caked-in dust all over the room, some of which I was able to remove with some tissue. Why doesn’t the housekeeping take care of such simple details?

Amenities were deeply lacking. Cigarette smoke throughout common spaces. Noisy due to thin walls.

Halfway through our stay, the staff removed our rollaway bed from a room they assigned us incorrectly to begin with (they needed OUR rollaway for another guest, apparently)— how did they expect my husband and two teenaged sons to all sleep in one king bed after that? Why did they assign us rooms with king beds to begin with, when my husband explicitly requested double queens? How do they think 5 people can even fit into 2 king beds? Staff responded indifferently, at best— we asked initially for a cleanup of the mold and odor remediation, which never happened during our stay. Only ONE front desk staff, named KRISTEL, proved somewhat helpful in getting my husband and sons moved to another room with two beds, but this necessitated their full move to another floor in the middle of our week+ stay.

We’ve stayed in many 5 star hotels, including previously in Japan, and in other Intercontinental properties across several countries. The ANA Intercontinental is not a 5 star hotel. Be sure you know what you’re in for with this place.

The service of the front line staff leaves much to be desired.
1) When we arrived at 2am, there was nobody to help us with the luggages. The bell staff was just standing behind the counter and looking at us. We noticed over our stay that it seemed to be the standard procedure for all guests regardless of time. This is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. It should be standard service for the bell service staff to go out and help guests with their luggages.
2) When we asked the counter staff if she could help to store something in the freezer, her reply was that we should ask their in-house restaurant ourselves. Most 5-star hotels would have made the arrangements for their guests rather than tell the guest to go figure it out themselves.
The staff basically do not extend help and we felt our stay was not very welcoming.

I got two rooms for this stay, one is club room and another one is mid floor room. Both are fine but club room is definitely much better and it is like another hotel. The room are clean properly.
The staff in club lounge is very nice and care about your travel. We got help from the staff to getting screwdrivers to open our broken luggage lock, which is very thankful. Food in club lounge is very fine but you may need to go out for a ramen as the amount of food provided in Evening Cocktail Hour is really for Cocktail hour only, but the taste and quality is still matching as a five star hotel. The whole club experience is very nice that you can check in and check out inside the lounge to skip the line in the lobby and enjoy some snacks after long travel from the airport.
The breakfast you can choose for guest with lounge is either lounge or 2F cafe. We tried both, not much excited/special for the lounge breakfast but the 2F cafe breakfast is a great surprise about the choice and quality of the food provided. It is definitely the best breakfast buffet i even seen in Japan. In room breakfast is also provided for club room but we didn't try out that.
Talking about the location, initially we think the metro is a bit far away from the hotel, but in fact there is a bus "City01" right down the hotel that is going to Shibuya which is super convenience if you exploring the city and shopping area. Going to Roppongi is also a great choice with the bus as there is a lot of great food and shops over there. On the ground floor of the hotel also getting 24x7 supermarket, Convenience store, drug store, several restaurant which you can access. The bakery in the hotel also make great croissants that is a must try.

It’s so active and full of costumers. at first reception wise needs to do better when they tell you your room will be ready beyond the check in time although they provide you with a temporary and you reserve a suites, so the start was frustrating and I only booked for 2 nights.
Good as it’s maintaining the IHG standard, and the underground station is just next to it.
But the area is slightly far from the major shopping areas.
They need to do better for there furniture and TV channels.

Tokyo was our final destination after a two week rail tour of Japan. All of the hotels we had chosen were part of the IHG organisation as I am an Ambassador Member so am very lucky to get special privileges.

Sadly this one was something of a disappointment. The sheer size of the place (over 800 rooms I was told) led to a very disjointed experience.
There was a huge lack of communication and whenever I made enquiries I got the distinct impression that the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing. A major part of the business appears to be air crew and whilst it gave the lobby a certain exciting ambience, the huge numbers meant you had to make circuitous joyneys to get past them and things became quite stressful.

The concierge desk was excellent. The team really knew their stuff and were extremely helpful. However there was often only one person on duty and that meant quite long queues to get information.

We visited the rooftop bar after returning from a baseball game on a Saturday nigt and got there about an hour before the advertised closing time (and last orders were half an hour before that). And they have huge notices telling you so we knew there would be no flexibility.
The manager/host who 'greeted' us couldn't have been less interested. He tried to go through the welcoming motions but was much more interested in the time and how to get us out within the hour. The bar itself was lovely and had a great ambience, but most guests, like me, seemed a little disappointed to be ushered out at 10pm on a Saturday night. I can't guess how much takings the hotel misses out on by being so prompt and strict.

I could go on for hours about lots of little niggles like this but you get the gist.
For what it is, an expensive high brand hotel in a major city, it really doesn't seem to care too much about individual guests and focuses on keeping the corporations happy.

You really could learn a lot from your branches in Osaka and Beppu which both know the importance of the brand.
A sad end to a great IHG trip that left something of a sour taste.
