Palmetto Bay Roatan is a natural paradise situated on a sparkling tropical bay created by the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere - the Mesoamerican Reef. We are a private, eco-sensitive, residential community within which many owners offer their homes for rent to vacationing guests. All vacation homes are independently managed by onsite property management companies. There are also currently several lots and homes for sale. Aside from Palmetto Bay’s beautiful white sand beach & exceptional snorkeling & SCUBA diving, our location features: a beach-side pool, restaurant & bar, on-site dive and watersports shop, dock & shaded palapa, numerous walking trails, and 24 hr. security.

Just returned from Palmetto Bay holiday vacation. We wanted a quiet place to call our own and we found it with some added bonuses. Palmetto Bay is a large tropical property of vacation homes, so we had our own villa (house). Well maintained and completely stocked with everything we needed. The resort is in a quiet area of the island surrounded by eco nature preserves, no other resorts, no noise except the birds, geckos and other wildlife and the ocean waves. Bonuses included the onsite restaurant and bar. Food is great with options for breakfast, lunch and dinner when you didn't want to cook your own meals. The bar was always staffed with great servers whether you sat at the bar, by the pool or on the beach. The beach is wide and long with a great dock and covered hut at the end with hammocks to enjoy and access to the ocean for swimming. Also available were kayaks and paddle boards lounge chairs were always available. Owner/managers Stephanie and James are always available, personable and honest and attentive to their guests and villa owners. The ocean and reef in Roatan are a natural playground to enjoy everyday. Although the resort is about 25 minutes away from busy resort areas of West End and West Bay transportation is just a simple request and the office makes arrangements as needed. If you want a resort feel in a private serene setting where the property is well manicured and maintained you will enjoy your stay. If you heard about the bugs, yep they are there too. They are on every beach on the island so come prepared with bug spray!!! Don't let those little pests keep you away from this oasis.

We went to Roatan on a cruise and git a day pass for 10 USD to enjoy the facilities. Everything looks clean and there were barely any people around so it was very relaxing. We did encounter sand fleas at the beach though, so use the loungers and don‘t sit or lay in the sand.

Spent a week in February with 6 people in a fabulous house on the beach. The staff was absolutely perfect. They arranged daily travel and excursions for us. The open air restaurant food was great and we loved the little bar and bartenders for happy hours. We took a day trip on a Catamaran that catered to every need. If you fish, snorkel or dive, arrangements can be made to leave right from the resort. i do not usually leave comments but this was one of the best trips. Also recomment a trip to the brewerey right outside the complex. Walking distance and very fun!

The food was very expensive, 16$ for a burger and 17$ for a ceviche that wasn’t even very good. When we asked for the check the guy never gave us the bill he just told us the total: 90$! We got 4 drinks 1 burger and 1 ceviche. When we calculated this it came out to about 69$ Plus taxes could be 79$ but not 90$!! When we went up to ask about it they only showed us the receipt for a couple seconds and I noticed they had charged us 11$ tip plus the taxes and 10% tip, (6.9$) we never said we wanted to leave an extra 11$ tip. Anyway don’t go here, the beach is pretty but from what I’ve seen and according to the other reviews it’s not worth it!

I don’t even know where to start! Our stay at Palmetto Bay was amazing! We stayed in Coconut Grove Cottage for one week. The staff was amazing! Maritza, Stephanie, Richard, Daniel and Lissa are wonderful. The food was amazing. Chef Daniel made us a traditional Honduran dinner, my son had wings and ice cream whenever he wanted. We even needed a new bag for all of the extra stuff we bought. Daniel quickly went to Coxen Hole and came back with a bag for us! We love Roatan so much we bought a condo on the West End! We can’t wait to go back and see our friends at Palmetto Bay!

We just returned from visiting Honduras for the first time and it won’t be our last! Palmetto Bay was a hidden gem. Not only was our house Coconut Grove amazing but the staff of Palmetto Bay made our trip that much better. Stephanie took great care of us while we were there, she recommended lots of places to visit and was very accommodating. The staff of the Cove bar/restaurant were extremely friendly and made sure we had a great experience. Food and drinks were very reasonable and very delicious. Lots of options to choose from. We are already planning our next trip. **PS yes there are bugs (sand fleas and no seums) it was to be expected but we didn’t let it ruin our good time-bring bug spray **

Stayed here for week and had a great time! It's located in about the middle of the island and tucked away from all the touristy west end and mega resorts. But only a 20min drive to to check out west bay/west end. House was very nice, pics accurate.Grounds has great flora and fauna. Cove restaurant had great food and staff. Host Stephanie and the staff was great help. Definitely will return!

Was exactly as described. Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. All staff very helpful and kind. Everything you would need is at resort. Had a great dive shop and boats. It was a lovely stay. Did not rent a car, the resort can arrange a drive to take you anywhere you want to go, we only left resort on 1 day. Would definitely return.

Our family stayed for a week in the Coconut Grove house. The house is beautiful and well cared for. We loved having our own pool and being right on the beach. The club house & community pool are just steps away. The staff are ALL amazing. Stephanie was so easy to work with booking the house & she also arranged for us to be picked up at the airport and had a car delivered the next day. Daniel is an AMAZING chef and Richard is the BEST bartender! Everyone talks about West End/Bay but Palmetto Bay is a hidden gem!

The staff definitely made our stay at Palmetto Bay amazing as could be. We were so happy to have stayed in this part of the island as it offered a relaxing vibe away from the super touristy areas. Richard, Fabricio, Lisa, & Daniel will make you feel like you're right at home. Daniel did an excellent job of showing us around the island and making sure we had a true Roatan experience.

The roads to Palmetto Bay are paved in concrete with the exception of a very short stretchat the end which is well graded packed dirt. The roads inside Palmetto Bay are all freshly graded and topped with gravel. You should have no problem at all.
Many of the roads on Roatan, including those at Palmetto Bay, are dirt and gravel and during the wet season (which can begin as early as late October and can last through early January) some can be difficult to negotiate without 4WD. This was particularly true last winter when the rains were extremely heavy and caused a lot of road damage. Having said that, the local government and the homeowners association at Palmetto Bay have recently done a lot of road grading, graveling, and paving so the roads are in excellent shape at the moment. If, however, you would like to rent a 4WD I would recommend Bay Island Car Rentas or Ramirez Car Rentals. The more well-known US car rental companies such as Avis often have 4WD vehicles available as well.
There are more places to choose from in the Palmetto Bay area.
