We just returned from our second visit to Beloved Playa Mujeres. Located 30 minutes north of the busy hotel section of Cancun, on a reasonably quiet stretch of white sand beach, Beloved is one of three Excellence hotels on this same remote beach. A small boutique, adult only hotel, it caters to couples only (no three in a room). I am not one who generally likes all inclusive hotels, but this one is different. They have four restaurants (Steak, French, Italian, and Seafood), an open air Sushi/ Bar lounge, a Coffee/ Ice Cream cafe, sports bar, and Taco truck. None of the food is cookie cutter and the chefs and staff go to extremes to please. As an example, this past trip we were talking with Chef Abel at a managers cocktail party and mentioned our love of Indian food. The next evening he took time out of his busy day to make four of us a multi course Indian meal. It was wonderful, one of the best we've had. It is important to say that this attention to the customer extends to every staff member we encountered from resort managers to housekeeping to gardeners. Take their devotion to making your experience a good one to remember and add the beautiful location and uncrowded feel and it adds up to a place you will want to return to. I almost hesitate to write this review for fear that many others will discover this gem, but they deserve this review. All the rooms are nice in their own way and the website describes each quite well. The hotel will help arrange transportation from the airport or outside day trips to make this a carefree kind of vacation. Some may say it is on the pricey side, but everyone we spoke to seemed to feel it was well worth the cost. I would like to especially thank Teresa and Manuela in housekeeping; Felipe, Alex, Lourdes, Luis, Eduardo, and Marcos at the beach and pools; Chef Abel, Alberto, Ingrid, Moises, David, Jose and Christian at the restaurants, Yasmin and Alan at the Spa, and finally Walter at the front office who all went way out of their way to make our stay memorable. Please note that I have never remembered the names of so many at any hotel I have stayed. If you are considering a Cancun beach vacation, want a bit more privacy and quiet, and enjoy wonderful food and service, then consider Beloved Playa Mujeres..

Beautiful, quiet adult resort. The immaculate grounds makes every picture you take seems like it's out of an official brochure. The staff was extraordinary in every way in their ability to make sure your stay is one to remember. The beach was very nice and well maintained and not difficult to find lounge chairs under a shady palapa. We rented a cabaña for one day, nice but not necessary. The pools also were sparsely populated. The food was fantastic with our favorite restuarant being the Isla Grill eating al fresco with no signs of mosquitos. Our room was well serviced and our requests for special bar items was taken care of. We stayed in a beachfront two story casita (Hermosa 4) and the views were excellent. The second story plunge pool could have been warmer and the decor was a little dated, but nothing to detract from the good time we had. We used the hotel's Season Tours airport transfers, well worth it with the drivers being very professional. A very nice relaxing vacation and hope to return soon.

The staff at Beloved is the best. Seriously some of the best service I have ever experienced. Shout outs to our beach concierge, Christian and our beach servers, Alex and Oscar; bar server, Alberto and waiter, Manola. But the biggest praise goes to Kenia at La Isla Restaurant who went above and beyond to provide us a special lunch simply because I mentioned I wanted shrimp for lunch.
The entire place and the grounds are immaculate. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are great! The beach is beautiful, fairly private (only Excellence resort guests) and they work diligently every day keeping up with seaweed removal. And overall, the food is excellent!
As a guest you should know the water closets are not private (open at top and bottom) and the bathrooms are part of the room.
And there are things that, in my opinion, need improvement. There are blackout curtains but they didn’t quite cover the windows. Each could have been wider for overlap.
The A/C in the room works, but not very well. The thermostat says 66 but the lowest it gets is maybe 74-75. We even made a special effort to return to our room after it was cleaned to close all the blinds and kept all the doors closed at all times. I do understand it is hot and humid so the units can probably only do so much.
The plunge pools are not very private. The upstairs plunge pool and sunbed area could be greatly improved simply by adding a few more levels to the fencing that is already there.
But my biggest complaint is the alcohol. The beach drinks are weak, which is understandable since everyone is out in the hot sun. Lots of people were ordering extra shots to add to their drinks; some even brought some down from their room. Normally at an all-inclusive the drinks get better at night. But sadly, that is not the case.
The house wine selections, including the champagne, are just bad. Please upgrade your wines and add a Pinot Noir and a Pinot Grigio. There is also NO top shelf alcohol. The only bourbon is Jim and Jack. I have been to all-inclusives where the top shelf is only at the Lobby Bar, which is fine. But to not be able to get one higher quality mixed drink or glass of wine before or after dinner was disappointing. I would gladly pay more per day to have top shelf liquor, if only at one bar.
Would I come back? Yes! Would I come back faster and more often if you improved your alcohol? Yes!

This place was so close to being perfect!!! We were blown away by the service from the moment you arrive, to our incredible room that is way bigger than pictures allude to. Everything is sparkling clean and someone is willing to help you get food or drink literally anywhere you look. Only complaint is the food was pretty unimpressive. I know it’s an all inclusive so quality generally goes down, but based on reviews I’ve read, we were both pretty surprised by the lower quality of most items in all the restaurants. Also...they don’t have a Mexican restaurant!!! It was the weirdest thing.

This is the second time my husband and I have been to this resort. I didn't enjoy it too much the first time but my husband did so we came back. This time we were both on the same page. The first night I ordered the rib-eye steak at the French restaurant. It was 3/4's fat. I did not eat it. My husband had the lamb. he did enjoy his. The next day we were very disappointed at the limited options for lunch. Our lunch was dried chicken that had been precooked and brought to the beach bar. It was awful! Dinner that night we both had lobster in the seafood restaurant. It was dry and flavourless. Finally, the last full day we were there we complained at lunch how disappointed we were. We were assured that we would be taken care of at dinner that night. they made such a big deal over how we would be taken care of that we were embarrassed to have complained. Alas, when we arrived no one seemed to know anything about us and our prior experience. We sat there wondering what all the fuss was that they made at lunch. the manager came over while we were eating our steaks and asked if everything was ok. No apology. Not a bottle of wine was offered. Nothing. We were very under whelmed at their lack of effort to win us back. We will not be coming back to this resort.

My husband and I recently stayed at Beloved for a quick 4 night anniversary trip. It was fabulous. We were in Bella 1, even though we thought we had booked one of the 2 story casitas. To be honest after staying in both (this was our 2nd trip), we preferred the casita with a pool, and not directly behind the restaurant pool where everyone walks by.
Definitely the greatest attraction of this property like it has been said over and over again, is the employees that work here. Each and everyone, really wanted to be right where they were, making it the best possible experience for the guest. Christian, Eduardo, and Luis on the beach, hands down some of the best service we have ever experienced. Drinks magically appeared, even one I had no idea I would like. Christian and Mex the bellmen at the front greeting you when you arrive, above and beyond.
The spa is the next greatest attraction, the hydrotherapy make sure to book for the day you arrive, great way to start your holiday, and it is so wonderful you will probably want to return. The Mexican food was out of this world, and anything you can find on or off the menu like the chilaquiles at le Bisou, delicious. There seems to be these secret/surprise Mexican dishes that do not appear on the menu, honestly like most have commented, there should be a restaurant dedicated to Mexican cuisine. Start you day at the Caffetto bar, best coffee on the property and the pastries to die for. Great mix of entertainment pretty relaxed in the evenings, but really enjoyed just being able to hear live music again. The music in the afternoon on the beach was so much fun, which made for a lovely atmosphere.
The grounds are impeccable, honestly we tried to find an area of sand that was not raked and in perfect manner, we could never find it. No wonder there are iguanas everywhere, with a home like this:)
There were just a few areas, that could be improved. The rooms are starting to show some wear, and we had to have maintenance come 3 times in 2 days, but they did respond quickly. The house wine could really use an upgrade, we researched it and it was 5 USD/bottle but I know it is taxed heavily in Mexico. The biggest suggestion is changing and /or toning back the fragrance that is pumped into the lobby area, it is so strong for someone with allergies, it is hard to breath. Really preferred the L'Occitane en Provence products that were used some years ago, not so pungent.
These are only suggestions, because in so many ways, the Beloved definitely sets the bar, and we are planning our next return.
Few Tips: bring an assortment of US dollars for tips, if you like straws in your frozen drinks, bring a reusable one (and take back home with you) in order to be kind to our ocean friends, take the Catamaran out, book your hydrotherapy early, make sure you have a beach bag in your room, ours was missing, eat everything and anything you can that is a local dish.

It was our 4th time at this place (two times during COVID) and the Beloved maintained that high level of excellence and family sensation that we come back for ! This time it was a family vacation with my two other brothers and their wife as well as a couple of friends and we had the time of our life ! The resort is always meticulously been taking care of, everything is clean, the trees and bushes taken care of every morning. The food and atmosphere perfect every time. And the food !! The food is so good at all venues. We tried the room service for a small gathering on our deck and the food was delivered in 15 minutes !!!! The person who took care of our minibar was at our room in 5 minutes after our call to bring a bottle of champagne and some white wine ! Amazing !!! This is why we come back every time, the staff is so genuinely always happy to help, that they feel like family ! The concierge at the beach and the waiters always making sure that everything is fine and that we have a good time. The personal at the restaurants and the waiters, perfect service, perfectly timed, not too fast, not to slow between services, always happy to answer questions about the menu, glad to make recommandations if you ask.
Only one new thing we found in our 4th time is the Pool DJ near the Isla Trattoria. Please be careful with that. We were at the beach and found the music pretty loud and too hip hop. We always come back at the Beloved because the beach is the place to relax (no Bluetooth speakers allowed or other music). If you would like to provide music, I would suggest keeping the caribbean band near the pool that you had before. More relax and more in the mood. The techno hip-hop music didn't fit and the three couple of us left after 30 minutes. Since the Excellence next door is the place for partying, it would be better if the Beloved beach is left calm. If the Beloved goes the same way as the Excellence in terms of style then the Beloved won't fit us anymore and that would be sad.
Apart from that, keep up the good work ! You guys are all amazing. Here are a few names I have caught during our stay but the whole staff deserve a big applause from us ! Thank you

My husband & I are long time Beloved customers and this trip was extra special as it was myself & my Mother. As a well deserved treat for Mom, I booked us for 7 nights from 8/1 - 8/8 in a Beach Front Casita with private plunge pool. We were driven to the resort by Seasons Tours in a private, comfortable SUV which was included in our reservation. We were greeted by Mex & escorted to the lobby where glasses of icy cold champagne were presented as we checked in. Walter the best Guest Service Manager I have ever had the pleasure to meet came over to say hello & advise that my preferred room was all set & ready for us. Christian, one of the beach concierge's, was a doll & took our pool floats to be inflated. Eduardo served us amazing cocktails & food on our patio daily during our stay. He was so much fun & always seemed to know exactly what we wanted when we wanted it!! As the resort has a small footprint, it takes no time at all to get from your room to any of the incredible restaurants, bar or lounge. La Isle the pool side restaurant is one of my favorites, not just for the delicious food but for Mr. Victor, our absolute favorite waiter! We always seek him out as soon as we arrive to say hello. There was a new addition this trip to La Isle, Florencia - "Flo" as the hostess. What a gorgeous smile! El Mar, the beach front restaurant has some new offerings on the menu & the most fabulous view! We had the pleasure of being served by Oscar, a total gem with the rest of the gracious El Mar staff, Karla, Viridiana, Sarai & Ann making us feel welcomed & at home. Juan, the bartender at the lobby bar makes the most delicious pre & post dinner cocktails and was fun to talk with. Martha deserves a special shout out as she rescued me one evening as I was walking back to my room from the lobby bar balancing two chocolate martinis….no questions asked, she just stepped right in & insisted on carrying both of them for me!! My hero!! I had the absolute pleasure to be able to introduce my Mother to some of the hotel staff that my husband & I have gotten to know over the years & look forward to seeing every trip. Kenya, who is now a restaurant Manager @ Lupita Steakhouse is such a charming, warm person who even went out of her way to come to our room to say hello when she heard I had asked about her! Ingrid, one of the amazing hostesses at Le Bisou, Antonio, one of the fabulous beach servers who has taken care of me & my husband on previous trips also came by our patio to say hello & meet "Mama". I could go on & on about how wonderful this resort is but you really need to just go & experience everything it has to offer on your own. It is billed as a "Couples Resort" but I have had the unique pleasure to experience it as a solo traveler, a couples trip & now a Mother, daughter trip & every single one of my trips has been nothing short of perfection.

There are so many amazing people at Beloved that it impossible to name them all! I will highlight a few below. This is by far the best all-inclusive resort we have ever visited in our lives and we had a wonderful week:
Veronica (Activities): She is the cruise director for activities like Julie on the Love Boat. You will see her leading a bike tour with guests on the trail near the hotel in the morning. In the afternoon you can catch her down at the beach leading a variety of activities--including butterfly release, margarita/guacamole class, bracelet making, among others. She was also there late on at least one night for a Super Moon party on the beach that included a special bar, telescope and fire dancers.
Veronica#2 (Caffetto Bar): My day would always start with a delicious iced Americano made mostly by Veronica. She also introduced me to some of her favorite special drinks.
Gerado (Trainee at El Mar Breakfast): Introduced me to a variety of Mexican specialities including the delcious molletes.
Luis (Beach Concierge): Luis set up our beach chairs daily and I enjoyed our talks about his Honda motorcycle and his love of adrenaline.
Oscar (Beach): Oscar was simply amazing!!! Every day he would bring down my glasses of ice, water bottles and a starter beer without asking. We spent most of the day on the beach with Oscar attending to our every need. We miss him greatly.
Elvis and Alberto (Lupita Lounge): Our evening always started with cocktails at the central lounge. The Dragon roll is delicious and the service cannot be beat. Depending on seating availability, our servers swapped nightly from Elvis to Alberto. Both were amazing and met our every need.

We just returned after spending 5 days at this wonderful resort.
The beach is beautiful in this part of Cancun and the beach concierge (Luis and Christian) were super attentive and we received wonderful service from our beach waitstaff (Alex and Alejandro).
The steakhouse was superb and perhaps had some of the best steak we've ever had in Mexico. The chef at the french restaurant cooked us some amazing food with barracuda we caught on a fishing excursion (ceviche, fish tacos and blackened barracuda).
We went to celebrate my birthday and at every turn, the staff was wonderful. From decorating our room to desserts and signing happy birthday.
This is a couples resort - so while there may be friends sharing a room, it is primarily couple and was therefore VERY quiet. If you are looking for a resort with a lot of socializing and more of a party vibe, I would recommend the Excellence Playa Mujeres next door. However, if you are looking for a quiet, low-key relaxing vacation, Beloved is perfect.

The resort is small, take a look at the resort map and you can plan which room to book. It's the smallest resort we ever been to, but don't let that stop you from going there!

Don’t worry too much about it. It doesn’t really save you any time. It wouldn’t upload my passports so I didn’t complete it. It’s actually nice to spend some time getting to know the staff at the desk.
