Wya Point Resort is situated amongst old-growth forest and private, pristine beaches of the Yuu-thlu-ilth-aht (Ucluelet) First Nation peoples. Located on the rugged and remote west coast of Vancouver Island, we offer luxurious lodge accommodations, waterfront yurts and beachfront camping. We have nine timber lodges that were built to LEED Platinum standards using locally harvested red cedar. Each lodge is uniquely designed by a local carver and artist, and named for an animal of the Yuu-thlu-ilth-aht culture. The lodges come equipped with a full kitchenette, fireplace, bathroom, bedroom (1 or 2), cedar deck and chairs, and floor to ceiling windows that overlook Ucluth beach. Our beachfront yurts are open year-round and have private access to Wya beach. All come with a gas stove for heat, cedar deck and chairs, linens and basic kitchen essentials. While our yurts and lodges have daily housekeeping, guests are advised to bring their own potable drinking water and food.

The campsite has the most amazing views. We have been here for two years in a row, and enjoy it thoroughly. The showers are a bit of a walk to get to, but they are warm, and you don't have to pay for them (unlike some campgrounds in the area). Also, the hosts are very kind and easy to talk to, if you have any questions.

We stayed in campsite 10 with our 23' trailer. It was a bit tight, but doable. The campsite had a lovely peak-a-boo view to the ocean and a large rock with the waves crashing over. The private beach is beautiful and we climbed over the rocks every night to watch the sunset. We were blessed with 5 days of hot sunshine, which is unheard of when you travel to the West Coast.
Bathrooms and showers were good, with washing stations for dishes which was convenient as well. We didn't have an issue with having to pack everything away for bears as we had our trailer, but people who complain about having to do that haven't dealt with problem bears before.
The only complaint would be the state of the bathrooms in the evening. If a toilet backed up, ran out of TP or paper towel, they weren't attended to until late morning. There were two nights/mornings where there one or more toilets were unusable.
All in all, the price tag is a little steep for what you're getting (no power or water) but I would recommend this campsite without hesitation and would come here again.

We stayed in a RV with 3 people & a dog and we could hear the waves all day and night hitting the beach. We could also see the ocean from our campsite which was fabulous. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed hiking to Florencia Bay from the entrance to the Wya Resort. The hosts were very informative & helpful-thanks Mitchell. We can’t wait to return.

This site promised wifi. There was no wifi. It promised showers. There were showers apparently, but where they are, I don’t know. Apparently by the yurts? Far from the camping sites. There was no map of the place that we could find. Parking for our campsite was quite far from our site, so hauling things in and out was a pain. The sites were much smaller than described. And the price was ridiculous for what you get. The beach was rocky but pretty and the waves were great, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I will only visit the area if we can stay at the provincial campground (Green Point).

I was very excited to stay at this campground, as my husband has stayed there for many years previously and he absolutely raved about it. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely bad. At the very beginning of our stay they had us sign a paper that said that you could be kicked out of the campground at any time and for any reason at the sole discretion of the campground management. I wasn’t worried when I signed this because my husband and I are respectful people and we were fully intent on obeying any rules put in place by the campground. On our first day out, we stored all our food in the food caches and went out to Tofino for the day. We returned to find a note on our picnic table stating that we had made a mistake in leaving out our clean dishes and a couple other boxes that did not contain food. The note stated that if we made the same mistake again we would be asked to leave the campground “without refund”. So, for the next day I was very careful to store everything in our site away in the food cache regardless of whether it was food or not.
The next day, we got back late to our site and my husband decided to go for a walk on the beach. As it was foggy and getting late, I decided to go check on him and then we both returned to our campsite 15 minutes after I had left. When we got back, Joe Thompson, one of the campground managers, was inside our campsite and when he saw us he came out and informed us that we had left our stuff out again and that our permit was being cancelled without refund. No amount of begging and pleading would convince the management that we should be allowed to stay even one more night. So, we had to drive in the fog and the dark to Port Alberni at midnight.
I would STRONGLY caution anyone against staying in this campground. The management were irrational, uncaring, and miserable to deal with. If you do decide to stay, make sure you only pay for one night at a time, and make sure you have a back-up plan for accommodations if the Wya Point Campground management decides to kick you out in the middle of the night.

I booked what appeared to be last available room one day prior to my stay. Wow! What luck I thought! A spur of the moment side trip to a beautiful area. The next day, after a 4.5 hour drive I discovered that my reservation has been cancelled due to it being booked after the front desk closed. Checking my email I discover that I received an email a little after noon informing me of this. Wow! How helpful! Thanks so much Wya Point resort. I appreciate the now nine hour drive round trip for nothing. If you're going to be unable to provide accommodations as advertised after confirmation it'd be nice to have a little more notice. You're absolutely abysmal in terms of service. I hope you appreciate potentially ruining the trip.

My family rented three lodges for our wedding weekend, all were stunning lodges, BUT dirty my new wife and I stayed in Thunderbird Lodge checking in around lunch we were told there is a delay because the lodge was being cleaned. No problem I work in the area so came back around 5PM. Arriving it was cold inside.. easily remedied with the gas fireplace, going upstairs we noticed a bag of dirty linens hiding behind a chair then a whole lemon sitting under the nightstand.. the first floor smelled of a mouse which died at first I was afraid of a propane leak but it smelled different.. the carpets in all three lodges were dirty in my pictures you can see a dolls hand and paper we found. We didn't let it ruin our wedding.. the next day no chambermaid had visited the lodge the beds unmade yet and garbage still there. Checking out we told the front desk but it didn't seem that our story was shocking to them.. Wya is stunning with its own beach and stunning view but has to clean up before I'd recommend it to a friend.

First, the road in is very narrow and long but an adventure. You have to check in at the junction which should have been made much more clear when confirming reservations. We drove all the way in and then asked someone as there is no staff on site. There are the 9 cabins in this location and that's it. We had to drive all the way back to the junction and the check in time is very late considering such an early checkout. 4 PM is just too late. Though I unders they have to clean the next day.
I was a little disappointed with such a magnificent beach that the seaweed wasn't cleaned up. There was so much and of course it attracted sand flies. The other travellers photos don't show the beach with seaweed so maybe we hit a day after the storm???
The seagulls had done a number on the outside chairs as well and the glass hampering the gorgeous view. It's just too bad the chairs weren't clean and windows weren't done.
Be prepared if cooking. There is nothing but salt and pepper. I would have assumed with a kitchen there would be some bare minimums but no. Salt and pepper, some coffee and powdered creamer and no microwave. The table also was not designed for sitting and eating at. It was wobbly and had a bar through the middle so your knees hit. Also, the toilet had been used with toilet paper and not flushed when we entered.
We had a gift certificate and were fortunate they allowed us to stay during high season so kudos to them. We will stay again but will be prepared for a bit more rough than the luxury lodge we expected.

We wanted to have a close to nature experience like you get from camping without having to figure out how to bring camping equipment with us on a plane and with more comfort and less work. The yurts were just what we were looking for. The beach is wild and beautiful, there are great tidepools to explore. The yurts are right next to the beach, set back under huge cedars and have everything you need. The grill has burners and there are pots and pans for cooking. We cooked some meals and went in to town for the others. There is a small propane heater for chilly mornings. We were actually a little disappointed to find a battery with an outlet and lights in the yurt. We didn't really need the lights since the days were so long and wanted to be free from our electronic devices. We told my son it wouldn't work for charging the various electronic devices and he believed us (at least this time!) but I'm sure some people appreciate being able to use it. The bathrooms are in a central bath house and are very nice, individual rooms with toilet, sink and shower. There are enough so there is never a wait, and they are even heated. They have sinks for dish washing at the bath building that have hot water as well - a great place to meet your neighbors. There is a way to sign up to have them bring you firewood, but we didn't figure it out, otherwise they also sell it in the evenings over by the RV and tent sites. The yurts are not soundproof, so it could be noisy if you had very loud neighbors, but the sound of the ocean muffles most normal volumes. There are a couple of yurts set back a bit further from the ocean that don't have close neighbors for people who are interested in more privacy. There are tent and RV sites as well. The RV sites are set back on the hill above the beach and have nice views. The walk in tent sites are set right next to ocean in an area of smaller trees (shore pines?). Someone staying there told me they were great as well. There are a couple of paid showers in the yurt bath building for people staying in the campground (showers are included for people in the yurts).

We stayed two nights in one of the smaller yurts. The location is wonderful; the yurts are located right on the beach. If the skies are clear, at night you have a beautiful view of the stars. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. That being said … the yurts are poorly furnished; our bed was comfortable enough, but there were two upright chairs and no table. The BBQ’s automatic lighter didn’t work; we were eventually provided with a lighter, but why wasn’t this checked and provided for before our arrival? The duvet cover could have used a wash. The resort is off the grid; there is no power. Batteries are provided for lights only. The water is dark brown and is not potable; you need to provide your own water (there’s a supply at the check in location, but you need to bring your own containers). Despite the rules for quiet, there was a loud party one of the nights we were there; this included some alarming fireworks. (As far as I could tell, there was no staff response to this event.) The road access is absolutely diabolical; a long single track gravel road with many potholes. If you expected this to be a glorified camping trip, you might enjoy the experience more than we did. But for $199 per night? No thanks!

We stayed at the campsite and I have some photos of the view from our tent, I am sure it would be as beautiful. The water is a bit cold though even during the summer, wet suit would be helpful to bring and lots of activities especially if you have kids, not much to do other than surfing...
Our experience was that there are a lot of casualrestaurants in Tofino serving comfort food but we thought there was a real lack of more vegetarian food and creativite cooking. We mainly BBQ'd in our cabin. We did not try Wolf in the Fog or the Japanese place, but they looked like the better bets. Careful though things close pretty early in the evening. Tacofino taco truck was the best meal we had. There is a reason it is rated so highly on trip advisor.
