We have two choices - we can allow those challenges to continue to prevent our forward progression, or we can work through those challenges to allow us to clear the path so we can continue on our journey of having a more fulfilling life. If you are reading this, you have taken the first step in making the choice that you no longer want your challenges to dictate your quality of life.

It’s fine. I'm fine. Everything is FINE! How many times have we said that to ourselves or others and deep down we know it isn't true? Sometimes it’s just easier to tell ourselves that rather than get to the root of the problem. Are you a highly functioning person who feels more anxious, unsettled, alone, frustrated, or empty than you’d like? Ongoing optimism, a growth-mindset, acceptance, and a nonjudgmental space help my clients move forward. I have previously worked with a diverse range of clients at Ohio Wesleyan University, in various public and private education roles, and in several corporate positions.

I work with neurodivergent adults (ASD, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, etc) to help them learn to manage symptoms with self-compassion and acceptance. There is a strong overlap of the autistic and ADHD community and LGBTQIA+ community, which I am extremely affirming of. I am also happy to conduct assessments for WPATH letters of endorsement for gender affirming procedures for trans and gender nonconforming adults, in addition to writing these letters pre-procedure. Please note that I do NOT conduct autism assessments at this time.

She screens all patients for ADD and substance abuse and treats these issues.
No, you do not have to keep suffering like this. You are suffering for reasons that can be identified and resolved in psychotherapy. If you could have figured it out on your own, you would have already, because you have really tried. You do not need "coping strategies" or suggestions or other superficial band aids for your pain, you need to understand what about you is functioning well and what isn't, and to develop the self-awareness, self-knowledge, and emotional competence that will get you out of this pain into the life you want to live.

ADHD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
