With specialties in trauma, eating disorders and perinatal disorders, my role is to help you tell the story of what it has meant to be you.
If you were given space to share the story of your body, how would it begin? What would that story say about love and loss, about eating and movement, about pain or trauma? Our lived experiences impact our ability to feel at home within ourselves and you may be there today. Maybe you’re feeling disconnected from yourself and others. Or you’re struggling to nourish and move your body in compassionate ways. Maybe your experiences have taught you that to connect to your internal experience would be dangerous or unsafe. Your ability to be in your body and use your voice may feel complicated, problematic, or even nonexistent.

As a previous Clinical Director and Trauma Therapist at a Treatment Center for Eating Disorders, I gained experience with Family Therapy, Adults, Couples and Teens.
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Using a holistic approach in therapy we will explore the mind, body and spirit connection. We will learn balance and build resilience through the power of self-discovery, thus improving your quality of life. Negative thought patterns and beliefs will be identified and challenged through DBT, mindfulness, and EMDR. When needed we may create healthy eating habits and a healthy relationship with exercise. Cultivating your spirituality to relieve fear and nurture an attitude of gratitude and abundance is encouraged.

Not accepting new clients
I have experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is considered one of the best treatments for eating disorders, anxiety, substance abuse, depression and trauma.
Please note that I am not accepting new clients at this time. If you are struggling with an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, substance abuse or trauma, please know that there is hope and healing for you. I enjoy walking along side people overcoming these disorders and being able to find out what true recovery means. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is an important one and that a person must have a good relationship with their therapist while the therapist utilizes therapeutic treatments that work.

Whether it be eating disorders, trauma, spiritual/religious concerns, identity, or relationships - I'm more than willing to lend a hand (or a listening ear). I don't promise to know all the answers, but I'm more than willing to help you find the right questions to further your growth and recovery.

My other specialties are trauma, PTSD, eating disorders, and anxiety.
Would you like to reconnect to your authentic self? Are you fed up with doing the same things that don't work? As a therapist, I provide a safe place to become curious about experiences that burden you from enjoying your life. Do you want to stop criticizing yourself? Do you want to find relief from extreme behaviors, anxiety, and depression? Possibly you feel isolated from others or altered by a traumatic experience. I am listening. I welcome all aspects of you to be heard.

I work with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, eating disorders, body image issues, complex trauma, PTSD, grief and relationship issues.
In a world where we are constantly experiencing trauma, both directly and indirectly, it can be difficult to identify how deeply different things in life affect us. I believe that the experience of feeling understood can be the catalyst for change and something that allows for healing to begin. I aim to provide a space of healing, openness and exploration for those things that you might otherwise suppress or carry with heaviness or judgment. Together, we can heal that unresolved stuff from the past and create skills to support you through future circumstances.

I'm passionate about working with adults, teens, couples, and families who seek relief from anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship/family issues, low self-esteem, eating disorders, and life transitions.
Hi there, and welcome. Let’s talk about the challenges that brought you here. Let’s also talk about the strength. Whether you’re giving therapy a first try, or another chance, I know it’s not easy. But we’re both here because of our shared belief that things can improve with the right support. Now let’s nurture your belief - in therapy and, most importantly, in yourself. You can change harmful behaviors that take more than they give. You can validate your past trauma and get out from under it. You can meet your emotional needs that were not met while growing up. You can learn to more fully love yourself and, in turn, receive love.

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
