What to expect

The Republican caucuses will be held in-person from 6 to 9 p.m. Eastern time, and first results are expected within an hour. Participants must be registered with the party or sign a statement declaring their affiliation.

The state’s 29 delegates are awarded entirely to the statewide winner if he or she receives at least 60 percent of the vote. If no candidate meets that threshold, those receiving at least 20 percent of the vote will be awarded delegates proportional to the results.

North Dakota Democrats are holding a primary via mail ballots, which are due by noon on March 30.
