Through strategic partnerships across government, OIG has provided an exponential return on investment to the taxpayer with over $13 billion in dollar accomplishments, which includes investigative recoveries, fines, and forfeitures, as well as review findings of disallowed costs since fiscal year 2021. By prioritizing outreach and forming meaningful partnerships, OIG will continue to force multiply in the fight to address the over $200 billion in potential fraud identified in the SBA’s pandemic relief programs. Recently, IG Hannibal “Mike” Ware – accompanied by the OIG oversight team – visited New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to engage with our stakeholders in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Small Business Administration Regional Offices, and our other law enforcement partners. These engagements allow our office to further align our collaborative efforts, discuss the latest findings in our comprehensive oversight work from investigative to data analytical, and celebrate our accomplishments in combatting fraud in SBA programs and ensuring that wrongdoers are brought to justice.
