𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭? Many times, the most complex part of #automation is how to handle and control the part you are working on properly and the 𝐄𝐨𝐀𝐓 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭. This elastic gripper finger made out of silicone rubber from SMC allows for parts to be grasped and handled in multiple positions and was showcased last month at the Automate Show in Chicago! For some reason, the gripper also reminds me of 𝐆𝐢𝐥-𝐌𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐋𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐧 movie. What brings you to the Automate Show? That's the question I am asked when I attend automate. As a #panel_builder I go to see the latest in panel components such as terminals and push buttons. As an #integrator, I go to see the latest in hardware from manufacturers like Banner Engineering, Festo, Phoenix Contact, and many more. As a #business_owner breaking into the automation world I go to develop business connections. However, as a #father, I go to open the world of automation and engineering to my oldest daughter who will be starting the next phase of her education by attending university as a 1st year mechanical engineering student. Sarah really enjoyed the show, with this being her second time. She loves the swag but as she proudly told me on the flight home, she was so happy to tell people that she was going to be going to university for engineering. She also loved to see other ladies in the engineering world such as Amber Wilborne and 🐆 Cathy Rinne. Next year in Detroit, I will be back with Sarah, and also 2 other kids of mine, Hannah and Michael, all who are interested in this crazy world of automation and engineering. If you want to influence and have young ones in your life, even if they are not biologically yours, influence them in a rewarding career like ours.
