Focus Areas

Focus Areas

During an ask me anything (AMA) session with Marketing, Communications and CSR this year, a team member asked what three things they need to know as we go into 2024.

It got me thinking about what we do and HOW we do it – and how those are equally important.

With that, these are the four focus areas I want every team member to demonstrate going into 2024:

Accountable: Establish who owns what early on. If you own something, do it with pride and see it all the way through.

Direct: Whether you are sharing feedback with a colleague or drafting something for an external audience, say exactly what you mean and nothing else. Filler words and jargon dilute your message.

Analytical: Dare to ask a question. If you are not sure – or not convinced – why we are doing something, ask. If you think there’s a better way, say so – and use data to support your recommendation.

Compassionate:  Everyone needs to act with compassion. Empathy is not enough, we need to put that empathy into action.

This year, I have learned a lot about David Finn, a pioneer in the PR space. He lived by the mantra “Just because you do not know how to do something does not mean you can’t.” I think this is a good mantra for us to all keep in mind as we close ’23 and move into ’24.

If we embody these focus areas, stick to the plan, and say no to what is NOT planned, I know we will continue to win in 2024.

So true! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing such great guidance Jonathan Adashek for the new year. I wonder who that team member was that asked the question 🙋🏽♀️😉. Cheers to 2024!
