As the region grapples with intense rains and flooding, SPAR South Africa in the Western Cape has donated R100,000 to the Gift of the Givers Foundation to deliver essential aid to those most in need - joining Woolworths, Pick n Pay, The Shoprite Group of Companies , and numerous other organisations in their relief efforts. The flooding has caused widespread damage, displacing many residents and devastating homes and infrastructure. As a community-first retailer committed to creating shared value and resilience, we believe in collective action in times of crisis. Our thoughts are with all those affected, as well as with the Cape Town Disaster Risk Management and Gift of the Givers teams, who are working tirelessly to provide assistance to the most vulnerable in our communities. SPAR North Rand Welcomes New Learners, Bolstering Commitment to Education and Community Empowerment  SPAR North Rand recently hosted a learner intake event, welcoming 120 enthusiastic individuals into a life-changing learnership programme. This initiative aligns with SPAR's dedication to education and community upliftment, offering participants valuable skills and qualifications in various disciplines.  The 12-month programme, in partnership with the W&R SETA and the TETA, will see learners embark on a development journey in areas like logistics, driving, perishable goods handling, and supply chain management. The programme will equip them with the necessary skills to thrive in the retail industry.  "SPAR is passionate about creating opportunities for young South Africans," said Promise Mantome, HRD Manager at SPAR. "This learnership programme allows us to empower individuals from developing communities and contribute to the fight against unemployment."  Mmakomane Madise, a representative from the W&R SETA, commended SPAR's commitment to skills development. “Programmes like this are crucial in bridging the skills gap and fostering a pipeline of qualified individuals for the retail sector," Madise said.  The intake event saw learners attend informative sessions, participate in a warehouse tour, and receive uniforms.   SPAR's investment in education and empowerment is a shining example of the company's dedication to building a brighter future for South Africa's youth. The SPAR North Rand Learnership Programme is a testament to this commitment, providing learners with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.  #SPAR #Community #Education #Empowerment #Learnerships #Learners
