I hope everyone uses this long weekend to celebrate family and friendships by taking a well deserved break to relax and kickoff an amazing summer. Make the summer of 2024 the best by having the best music, BBQ and sports (hopefully baseball) create the atmosphere of celebration and fun. It is well deserved and your friends and family will assist in ensuring that you get this summer off to an amazing start. Enjoy. Also remember throughout the weekend that Monday is #MemorialDay and May is #MilitaryAppreciationMonth. Memorial Day has been a day in our history since 1868 that we remember the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Every Memorial Day Weekend (and often throughout the year), I re-read the Gettysburg address that reminds me of some simple facts including: “ …that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom-and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” During this solemn weekend, we remember those that have passed and given the ultimate sacrifice. Although we honor the living and the active military on #VeteransDay, May is also Military Appreciation Month which allows us to be grateful for the those men and women who are currently in service to our country or have been in service to our country. When is it wrong to say #ThankYou? I hope everyone has an amazing weekend and an amazing summer. Because I believe music is the great unifier, I could have attached many artists from Kate Smith to Bruce Springsteen. I thought I’d end with a song that states “and I won’t forget the men (and women) who died that gave that right to me.” Make this an amazing Summer of 2024. Happy Memorial Day. Reminder: The National Moment of Remembrance law was passed in 2000, and encourages all Americans to pause for one minute at 3 p.m. local time to think about the sacrifices of fallen military personnel.

246 years ago, Betsy Ross was asked by George Washington and two others to create a symbol of liberty. The colors she chose represent valor (red), purity (white), and perseverance and justice (blue). With 13 stripes for the original 13 Colonies and 50 stars for every state in our Union, the flag has evolved over time. To date, there have been 27 official versions, with our current flag designed by 17-year-old, Robert G. Heft, was selected by President Eisenhower in 1959 as the official Flag of the United States. Our current has been the longest version that has flown over “the land of the free because of the brave.” There are 6 US flags on the moon. Today is National Flag Day. 80 years ago today the definitions of freedoms, sacrifice and service changed forever. With gratitude, to those that have provided the blessings of our present day and the responsibilities we have to the future. Never forget.

Meet Alana Davis, our new Senior Director, Media and Archive Services. Alana brings more than twenty-five years of experience in the software industry, driving value for customers across multiple enterprises in sales and sales leadership roles with established and expanding organizations such as SAP, http://spr.ly/6048j5wcr, and Anaplan. She joined the Media and Archive Services team on April 1st to lead the sales team. Alana has been with Iron Mountain since 2023, responsible for the European BDE sales team and for banking and insurance in the GISV organization. On a day to day basis, Alana works with the Media and Archive Services team to deliver value to our existing media and entertainment customers and to partner with Iron Mountain’s broader organization in order to help customers across all verticals access, monetize their historical media assets, and preserve their corporate and cultural heritage. Alana loves both the historical importance of the assets with which we work, and the unique, passionate team in the Media and Archive Services organization who are both experts in their domain and often artists themselves. In her free time, Alana loves spending time with her family, which includes four children spanning eight to eighteen years of age, with whom she loves to travel and partake in any kind of sports. Her eight year old daughter actually wrote and recorded her first song last year! 4,661. That's how many organizations are currently approved in the DoD SkillBridge database, for the nearly ~200,000 military members that separate from active duty service every year. Needless to say, that number is strikingly low. At S2IC, we aim to change that. The #DoDSkillBridge Program offers these servicemembers a jump start on their next career, allowing them to intern on-site in civilian workplaces before being released from active duty service. Not only can they benefit from reduced stress by getting to trial their next career before separation, employers gain access to these skilled, professional, dedicated workers for 6 months without having to put them on payroll.
