Last week, S2IC had the honor of attending and presenting at the Summer 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Military Family Retirement & Transition Summit on Camp "Bull" Simons on Eglin Air Force Base. The event provided a comprehensive look into the separation (or retirement) requirements and optional tools available to our military members, with particular focus on the 7th Special Forces Group. From financial planning sessions to VA medical advisors, career coaching, and vocational planning, it was great to see all the resources available to our servicemembers and their families. Special thanks to LTC Josh Enke for organizing such an awesome event. S2IC was able to present a more specific overview of the SkillBridge Program from the perspective of the servicemember. Key topics included benefits of utilizing the program, what requirements need to be met before submitting application packets, how to find SkillBridge opportunities, and when they should begin looking for these internship opportunities. During the Breakout Sessions, we enjoyed getting to meet the servicemembers and learning about their specific goals, concerns, or challenges regarding SkillBridge, separation, and transition to the civilian workforce. Thanks to our industry partners, advisors, and connections, we were able to set goals and action items with many attendees, including entering S2IC's database of interested servicemembers. Being in our database gets a servicemember on our radar, allowing us to connect them with industry SkillBridge hosts whose organizational needs align with the servicemembers' skills and post-service career goals. Had the opportunity this week to stop in and see SkillBridge intern, Tyler! Tomorrow marks two months since he started his internship with our partner, Carriage Hills Realty. Couldn’t be happier to see those smiling faces! After we first spoke to Tyler we knew his enthusiasm and work ethic would be a value add to any team, but when he told us “I’ve always known I wanted to get into real estate, especially property management,” we knew the opportunity with Lance and the team at CHR was the perfect fit. Thank you to Carriage Hills for partnering with S2IC to become a DoD SkillBridge Authorized Host provider. Today, we remember & honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. During his initial assignment, our founder Jason Seifert served in what is traditionally known as “The Old Guard” in Washington, D.C. They are the Army’s official Honor Guard and escort to the President, and are tasked with being the Army’s premier ceremonial unit. The Old Guard is known for carrying out ceremonial duties to the highest standards of perfection. Among their most solemn missions were the funeral escorts they conducted at Arlington National Cemetery. No matter the conditions - rain or snow - the soldiers of the Old Guard never wavered in their commitment to perform these funerals with unparalleled precision and respect. Equally moving were the moments unseen by most - the nights Jason & his fellow soldiers left home at 2am to travel by helicopter to Dover Airfield. Day or night, the Old Guard was there to receive the caskets of the fallen soldiers returning home on military transports. Always, they maintained the highest level of honor and respect to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to their families who were there to meet them. Each day, our goal is to strive to always do the same. To those we lost and their loved ones left behind, we thank you for your service and sacrifice.

It was a great day to stop in and see some of our local SkillBridge interns with our partner Realty ONE Group Emerald Coast! Kevin and Joe were eager to explore the real estate industry before transitioning out of active duty and hoped to utilize the #SkillBridge program to do so. Thanks to Realty One Group Emerald Coast’s partnership with S2IC as a DoD SkillBridge Authorized Host Provider, Kevin and Joe found ROGEC’s listing in the SkillBridge internship database. After requesting Realty One Group Emerald Coast as their SkillBridge internship host, S2IC connected all parties, answered questions, and handled the necessary paperwork to ensure a smooth and seamless process for everyone involved. For those new to our page who may be wondering...what IS SkillBridge? ⭐️ #SkillBridge is DoD-funded program which allows military servicemembers to intern at civilian host companies during the final 6 months of their active duty service, during which the DoD continues to cover 100% of a service member’s salary & benefits. ⭐️ SkillBridge internships allow servicemembers to flow from military to civilian careers without a break in employment, professional fulfillment, productivity, or community, leading to more confident and successful transitions for veterans. ⭐️ While “extending a hand” to transitioning military, employers also gain up to six months to train in-house, assess optimal role & fit within organization, without having to pay salary or benefits.
