My son Nasim will be a Patriot this fall. He’s literally grown up at Mason and has been part of the George Mason University community since birth. We are very proud of him!

Today was the first day of George Mason University’s Early Identification Program Summer Academy & Institute for Excellence. We welcomed 830 students on campus to participate in our Summer Programs (680 for Summer Academy + 150 for Institute for Excellence). The Summer Academy is a 3-week academic enrichment program where college-bound first generation students take coursework they will be enrolled in the following academic year. The Institute for Excellence is a 5-week hybrid program, which is part of Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Dominion Energy Building Hispanic Talent Initiative (BHTI) where students earn college credit. #studentsuccess #firstgensuccess

My son discovered his passion for the arts at Westminster School in Annadale, VA, where my wife taught for several years. Enrolling our children there was one of the best decisions we made. Nasim Abdul Khaaliq's love for performing, sculpting, singing, and playing instruments allowed him to express himself and find his passion. Again, I’m proud to say that he’ll be studying Theatre at George Mason University. Watch a clip of his early performance as the Lion in The Wizard of Oz.
