Chissell and team about the North Lawndale Project that came out of the grid modernization workshop last year! “In disadvantaged and underserved communities, many times residents, who tend to be African American and Hispanic assume that they do not have control over power outages. In fact, many have accepted that it is what it is, when that is simply not true. According to an AICPA report, only 2% of all U.S. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) are Black. Furthermore, Black accountants make up 1% of partners in accounting firms, whereas 91% of accounting firm partners identify as white. Shoutout to the Baker Tilly US Black Team member community for spending the week at the National Association for Black Accountants National Conference recruiting the next generation of Black CPAs, representing equity on the national stage for professional services, and networking with industry leaders to further increase impact in black corporate America.
