iFAB Tech Hub is set to receive $51M in federal funding to become the global center in #biomanufacturing. This funding will bring a wealth of local opportunities — from expanding and building lab space at the Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory, ADM, and Synonym to creating new jobs. “The jobs that will come because of iFAB are a whole range of educational backgrounds, interest levels, — whether or not you care about science, there are roles for so many people in these industries," Beth Conerty with IBRL said. That's right. Silicorn Valley. "This is a tremendous opportunity for our communities in bioprocessing and fermentation," Budzinski said. "I often had been saying when I took office that we are the ag tech corridor of the country — I think we can now say we are 'Silicorn Valley.'" iFAB Tech Hub

The EDC's Economic Development Officer, Andrew Taylor, attended last week's 2024 IEDA Summit in Chicago and was happy to connect with other economic development professionals in the state.
Thank you to the over 150 economic developers and partners who attended the IEDA 2024 Illinois Economic Development Summit on June 20 and 21! Attendees heard from Illinois Deputy Governor for Budget and Economy Andy Manar, DCEO Director Kristen Richards, Tom Baron of the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Chicago office, DCEO, Intersect Illinois, and many other panels discussing the current and future state of economic development in Illinois. Following presentations on June 20, attendees enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at an outdoor networking reception at a patio along the Chicago River. Thanks again to our very generous sponsors! The IEDA Summit is not possible without their support.
