There will in all likelihood not be a bigger game changer in the immediate future than Artificial Intelligence. The real trick will be where and how as it relates to each of our businesses. Leveraging AI will be an evergreen initiative. Like all other technologies, we will watch it mature over time. I am so very fortunate to have two children who are high performance athletes. I have always been amazed at what a difference a great coach can make in terms of their performance and outcomes. As leaders, managers, even peers, we find that one of the most difficult urges to overcome is the desire to solve, offer solutions, decide, etc….as fast as possible. We often do so without all of the information that might be available to us or without paying attention to the feedback offered. I am a fan of the statement “sometimes you have to slow down to speed up”. Better decisions or advice is often given after a reasonable consideration is made. Everyone is interested in the impact Artificial Intelligence is having on business and life, in general. I find the advances in this technology fascinating. I was fortunate to serve in a leadership role in a company based on AI algorithms before taking on the responsibilities of leading a Vistage CEO group. While this was written expressly for entrepreneurs, I would suggest it is appropriate for anyone in a leadership role. When I first started in business, I thought being in meetings was important and a sign of growing authority. Once I had been in several, I found myself saying, "I'll never get that time back in my life." We waste WAY too much time in "meetings". Here is a good article with some excellent advice and strategies to reduce the time we spend in meetings while making the time we do spend when gathering far more effective and valuable. Enjoy!

While this article refers specifically to entrepreneurs, I think it applies to all businesses. I am fond of the statement, "Nothing happens until you sell something to someone." Growing a business is completely dependent on meeting the customer where they are, not where you wished they would be. I am a HUGE fan of this approach. I made it a part of my leadership efforts to do what I called, "day in the life of". I spent a day or more with the various front line employee groups living a day in their lives. Wearing the uniform, doing the work, and listening. I learned so much! It helped me ground the decisions I had to make that impacted these employees and our customers. Never left any one of these experiences without having learned something.....something that helped me make better decisions and be a better leader. Good article.
