Today, I was offered $25, $50, $100, and $250 gift cards for Amazon, "Lunch Gift Cards," tickets to a Cubs game (I can't stand the Cubs), and passes to the Art Museum for my family. Why? To take a call with a sales rep. These emails are coming all day and it's crazy. Look, I am a season sales pro, and I offer three things to take a call me—Honesty, Passion, and Dad Jokes.

Looking for candidates: I am looking to help a friend hire a Head of Marketing who has experience scaling a startup SaaS company. There are two glaring red flags that people need to be aware of when choosing a role. 1. The interview process. The concept should be like dating, where each side tries to woo the other. If you feel abnormal or don’t feel good about how they are running the process, get out. How they treat you will be the same way you are treated on Day 1. 2. Onboarding. I feel like onboarding is even more crucial, especially in a hybrid, remote world. It shows the system they have in place and how they will utilize your talents, and it allows you to pick up on gaps in their system. How they react to suggestions and the attention they give you is crucial. I say get out if you feel it’s not what they promised in the interview. The job market is tough, but taking on a role that doesn’t allow you to flourish and be your best self can be even more detrimental.
