😢I was a little sad as my twin sons were graduating from Webster Groves High School and getting ready to move on to the University of Missouri-Columbia (M.I.Z…). I wish they could stay with us forever, but they grew up, and fast. It is going to be tough when they move out in the fall, but this put a smile on my face….😁
👨🎓We had a graduation party for them and their friends this weekend and this happened!

In less than two years, Lindenwood University went from being bullish on Division I, to cutting nine varsity sports. What happened?

Don't be surprised if you see Kennesaw State University or University of Indianapolis follow the lead of Lindenwood to cut athletics opportunities in the coming years. The finances don't add up and there will be a tidal wave of expenses not realized by the leaders at these institutions.
Analysis on KSU, UIndy: https://lnkd.in/gZEQrgKW
Or for that matter, University of Southern Indiana.
Analysis on USI: https://lnkd.in/g_KPQGZGUniversity of Delaware are you paying attention? Of course they aren't. As of 2019, Delaware operated on 87% subsidy from students and the institution. Athletics is generating only 13% of its own revenue to pay its bills, and wants to move to CUSA and DI-FBS? Unwise financial decision that will lead to cuts in the near future. It costs MORE to move up a division than the new money raised. Always.

Go Blue!
Joel. I remember this like it was yesterday. Beautiful sunny Ann Arbor spring day and such joy.
It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine!
The Walter Cronkite speech was fairly realistic given the status of the US economy and the world. He told us to stay at Michigan.
Mr. Cronkite talked about the “megaproblems that we face:”
1. The population explosion,
2. Pollution,
3. Depletion of natural resources (including food and energy), and
4. Atomic proliferation.
“It is hardly necessary to expand on these items for a group of Michigan graduates --
* you know that the world population will double by the time you are fifty and will almost double again by the time you sit here to watch your grandchildren graduate; and almost 90 percent of that growth will be in the already poor, starving, underdeveloped lands.
* You know that our blind devotion to immediate profit instead of future security continues to poison the water we drink and the air we breathe and threatens the entire food chain at its source.
* You know that, because of mismanagement, we are running out of fuel and arable land and dozens of vitalminerals and metals.
* You know that experts count a score of nations on the threshold of nuclear energy, and its by-products of bomb-grade material.
* Hanging heavily over us is the thought of
atomic bombs in the hands of the Khadaffis and Khomeinis of our world.
These are problems that will not wait much longer for solution. Among the more pessimistic of our scientists there is the gloomy assessment that we already may have passed the point of no return on one or all of them.
Well, I should think that is a proposition that at least you would want to test.”
Still even more relevant today!
"It's up to you," said Walter Cronkite, “to help and to lead the inevitable social, political, and economic revolution which our magnificent technological revolution forces upon us.
"But don't despair, you, of all people, are up to it."

Saturday, April 27: I graduated from the University of Michigan 40 years ago today.
I feel old.
I remember it was a bright day. I walked into Michigan Stadium with my friend (to this day) William Roney, CPA. We listened to Walter Cronkite, still somewhat newly retired from CBS, deliver the commencement address. I don't remember anything he said.
A lot has happened since then, but I am always glad I got my start at the University of Michigan.
(April 27 also marks 14 years of being prostate cancer-free. Coming up on three and a half years of being thyroid cancer-free.)
Link to list. It's actually a decent list, as the top 10 is hard to argue with, though you can quibble with it naturally (eg, Morgantown doesn't belong in the top 100, let alone top 20 IMO 😀).
