Autodesk has long committed to addressing the data problems across the AECO industry. Many firms, like Arcadis, are challenged by fragmented data trapped in project files, which leads to either unused or low-quality data and a lot of time spent manually extracting analytics and insights.   Last week, we took one step closer to supporting our customers by acquiring Datum360, which will help AECO firms create better designs and deliver higher quality projects faster, with less waste and lower costs.   Welcome to Autodesk, Datum360!

Great story in The New York Times on the opportunities and need for industrialized construction in the U.S. If we can continue to streamline and systematize the design and build process, we can work to address the affordable housing shortages that face us today and in the future. Autodesk released its annual Impact Report, which outlines our successes and challenges in supporting our industries' transition to a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future.  Here are some highlights: ·     Partnering with our customers to drive sustainable outcomes with technology as the catalyst. ·     Donating $16.2M in financial capital and $9.2M of in-kind contributions deployed to the Autodesk Foundation portfolio. ·     Collaborating with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the U.S. Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute Consortium to develop science-based and empirically backed guidelines and standards for AI measurement and policy, laying the foundation for AI safety across the world. ·     Increasing the number of women in tech roles globally by 49.5%. We believe that by holding ourselves accountable in our own sustainability journey, we can credibly engage and advocate for change. That's why we support more ambitious public sector action to solve our collective challenges. And by aligning our business practices with emerging regulations and standards, we aim to set a new standard for sustainability in the industries we serve.

I’ve always been proud of Autodesk’s commitment to help shape the future workforce so that it better represents the diverse world we live in by investing in the next generation of talent.  That’s why I’m thrilled to share that we are building on our longstanding relationship with Howard University, by donating $5M to its College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) – the largest unrestricted philanthropic donation in the CEA’s history. As a renowned Historically Black College and University (#HBCU), we support Howard’s mission to provide a pathway to opportunities and careers in engineering, computer science and architecture for Black and other underserved students. Our State of Design and Make Report found that 43% of industry professionals believe they don’t have access to the skilled talent they need. We hope that our investment in academic institutions like Howard – along with equitable access to resources and technology – will help future generations pursue careers in #STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). We already have the technology to overcome the capacity constraints we face in rebuilding America. Amazing new technology to help artists bring their ideas to life in post-production - without painting the actors with dots.

I've always said that California State University, Northridge has supported me to be my best self - to stretch beyond what I thought I could do to do what I can do. They lifted me up once again by bestowing an honorary doctorate of humane letters, and helping me give back to the institutions that supported me on my journey. It was a pleasure and an honor to celebrate the students who will foster a more diverse and inclusive future workforce, and I'm so optimistic of their potential. These students are heroes for doing what they've accomplished and I encourage them to be heroes for others out there who needed support just like me. Congratulations, class of '24! Many thanks to the Terner Center for Housing Innovation and UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design for having me share my thoughts at the Boyce Affordable Housing Symposium.    At Autodesk, we believe that industrialized construction is a key component of the future of the AECO industry, and will help deliver projects quicker, with higher quality and with less waste.    We need these efforts – and need architects, engineers, and more - to continue looking outside of their designs and think about applying their skills to major issues like affordable housing.    How many of you see the potential of industrialized construction, while still struggling with the path to get there?
