I love old-school representations of VR. Three decades ago, we had no idea what we'd be using VR for. We didn't even know what the user interface would look like. 🤣 So you get masterpieces like this clip from a movie I've never even heard of called Johnny Mnemonic. This is what they thought browsing the web would look like in 2021. Hilarious. Maybe we should bring back little electrical shocks if you give a miss-input. 😂

We've come a long way since Google Glasses. I'm recording this video with the Meta Ray-Ban Wayfarers. 😎 Finally, Meta is doing something right! They're still a bit thicker and heavier than standard RBs, but they look good. I've been using my pair to document stuff, like getting ready for a race, but they don't fit in the helmet, so I can't wear them while racing.😅 Battery life is so-so, but the charging case (which looks amazing) is good enough to keep them alive. The AI features are limited in China/HK, so it's hard to judge them on that, but when it works, it's impressively accurate. It can quickly recognise most of the stuff you look at, unlike the Humane pin & other gadgets, which are painfully slow. The best part for me is being able to shoot videos without using my hands, and (probably the most important) is the ability to see your hands and what you do with them on the videos. This brings immersion (along with the amazing spatial audio) to the next level for the viewers of the video. When you see the hands (for example, when cooking or driving), it really makes you feel like you're the one shooting the video instead of being a passive watcher.

Finally! A good way to walk around in VR! No more joysticks. No more cables. No more massive VR dedicated rooms. No more teleporting. No more motion sickness (hopefully). Just smooth walking. 🚶 This is FreeaimVR!

Even Apple knows how expensive the Apple Vision Pro is! They're apparently working on a cheaper cut-down version for the Headset to be released in 2025. What makes this even more interesting is that this is replacing the Apple Vision Pro 2 - which would have been a new and improved release. This is a coded message from Apple - it reads "Our AR headset is expensive, we promise we'll make you a cheaper one." Honestly, I think this is the right move. The Vision Pro is much more pricey than its competitors, and that must be hurting sales. For once, we have a tech giant that is getting back down to Earth.

When someone tries out our very futuristic VR pilot training programme, this is what they'll see. 🤣 Flying a plane isn't easy! This image is the beginner's guide, but there is so much involved with learning to operate a plane. Not to mention all the million other different roles involved with getting a plane off the ground! The ultimate escort mission. You're looking at a live VR jet escort of an actual commercial airliner. There is a bit of magic happening here, but someone plugged in live flight radar data to his flying sim and then escorted this plane in Virtual Reality. How cool is that?

Screenless laptop... I didn't really have this on my radar, but here it is. Points for innovation, but is this the kind of Augmented Reality we want? If you go back to the beginning of the video, you can see just how bulky the laptop would have to be to house the glasses. That doesn’t look like a nice slim design. What are the benefits of this anyway? A portable charging station and a keyboard for your AR glasses? It's not the worst VR/AR product out there... Do you think this different setup for augmented reality could work?

Imagine a VR headset for your feet! Who wouldn't want that, right? 😅 Haha, I talked about this a while back when Sony first announced it, but now we have an actual patent for the footwear. It's interesting, to say the least. It looks like they read my last LinkedIn post about it because this time around, they're saying that the focus of the device is to help combat motion sickness. By reducing torso movement, they think they can beat one of VR's biggest problems. However, I'm still a firm believer that when there's a disconnect between what your body is doing and what your eyes are seeing, you're going to have a motion sickness issue. But let's watch the space. Maybe there is something here...
