I’m really happy to have just delivered another VR previz project for a wonderful client. I developed VR and first-person versions of a walkthrough of their upcoming office, including a custom heads-up display with a map showing your current position and a set of locations you can jump to in sequence. The trickiest parts were turning the player to face the direction the client wanted with each teleport and building a stationary map with a moving player (it’s normally the other way around). Of course, a lot of the blueprinting had to work in different ways between the two versions… but it’s all possible in the end. And the recent modelling tools in UE are a Christmas present to anyone trying to fix inconsistent normals on imported assets. What amazing progress. It’s always seems magical when somebody first puts on the headset and sees something they’ve been working on — and great to see them immediately noticing changes they want to make before it’s built! The final delivery was a laptop and Quest 2 headset, custom configured to facilitate easy presentation — and the first person version of course can easily be shared via a link. #unreal #vr #archviz #ue5 #previz
