CLINICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANT: The Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) is an entry-level position that provides general lab and administrative support to the licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientists. This is a full time position working 10 hour days, 4 days a week. They are responsible for following all standard operating procedures of the laboratory and adhering to all quality regulations. Additionally, the CLA is responsible for laboratory functions that do not directly involve the manipulation of patient samples or products generated from patient samples. We're using next generation sequencing to fundamentally change the way esophageal precancer is detected. Our groundbreaking EsoGuard DNA test assesses genes from cells collected from the esophagus in a quick, non-invasive procedure. This gives clinicians the ability to detect disease before it progresses to cancer, all without the need for sedation.   • Assist with all sample intake procedures including the preparation of samples for high-complexity testing
  • Performs various housekeeping and/or maintenance tasks to keep laboratory and equipment in clean and operable condition
  • Maintains department inventory and orders supplies as needed
  • Participates in QA activities as assigned
  • Completes training and competency checklists as needed
  • Performs other clerical duties as assigned
  • Reports problems concerning individual cases, tests, equipment and supplies to laboratory management to ensure timely resolution
  • Adheres to QC and maintenance procedures established in the department
  • Assists in the maintenance of department inventory and supply levels by being aware of reagents and consumables used and notifying Supervisor when stocks are low
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and ensures departmental compliance
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, specifically Wednesday-Saturday, 9:00am-7:30pm (10 hour days, 4 days a week).
  • The work requires excellent attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multitask and be flexible with tasks and schedules, and the ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Ability to cross reference information, ability to prioritize work, telephone skills, computer skills, working knowledge of standard office equipment (computers, printers fax machines, phone systems, office software and internet).
  • Must be able to handle a wide work variety in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, organized self-starter with an ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems.
  • All employees are required to have completed an FDA-authorized or approved one or two-dose COVID-19 vaccination course, and any subsequent booster doses at the suggested intervals
