The continued usage of the terms #Latine and #Latinx to describe the U.S. #Hispanicmarket is problematic. Both these terms oversimplify the diverse cultures, languages, and national identities within this community. Latinx itself aims to be inclusive, yet it is widely rejected by those it seeks to represent. Collectively Hispanics prefer identifiers specific to their own heritage, such as Mexican, Puerto Rican, or Cuban, rather than broad, generalized labels. Authentic representation requires acknowledging and respecting the self-chosen identities of individuals within the Hispanic community. Marketers using these terms will be viewed as out of touch and patronizing at their own peril. Basta.

The study reveals that using mixed-language ads, incorporating Spanish and English, is the ideal approach for brands to connect with this audience.
