“I have known Mel for almost 10 years and she has been one of the most consistent professionals I have come across in both performance and demeanor. Mel is able to break down complex HR matters and regulatory requirements in appreciable and well executed action plans for leaders to cascade to front line staff. As an executive peer, Mel is also a valued voice in the room. Her moral compass always points true north and she is not afraid to speak truth to power. While being able to connect at an executive leadership level, Mel also brings the vantage of and advocacy for all levels of work force. This includes current workforce from a retention and satisfaction perspective, but also from a strategic perspective in terms of being an employer of choice and competitive recruitment. She makes things personal and applies life lessons which resonate with all. In the same breath, she also provides excellent perspective on whether a matter is realistic in its goal, or if the requisite is of low value and how to navigate what may appear to be tedious. While Mel and I no longer work within the same organization, I consider her my friend and would leap at the opportunity to collaborate in the future, selfishly so within the same organization. I would not hesitate to recommend Mel to any organization, including my own should the opportunity arise. When it comes to HR and all things HR, I have never had a better partnership. Mel sets the bar high and there is never a day I am not reminded of what that bar is. ”

Here's how you can utilize feedback to acknowledge and incentivize top-performing employees.
We all need feedback to help us grow. Before you start to provide feedback reflect on the purpose of the conversation. Feedback is intended to help the recipient improve, grow, or make changes. Ask yourself … 1) Why is the information you’re about to share important? 2) How will sharing this information help the recipient improve? 3) What is my intent in offering the feedback? If your intentions are not constructive, clear and with the recipients best interest at heart, you may not be sharing feedback. You might simply be expressing your opinion. Remember, the purpose of feedback is to facilitate learning, development, and improvement by offering insights, suggestions, and reflections on the recipient's performance or behavior.
