Co-Active Training Institute, formerly The Coaches Training Institute.
About us
The Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) is the world’s largest in-person and online coach training and leadership development organization, and has trained over 145,000 global leaders. Founded as the Coaches Training Institute in 1996, we have chosen the paradigm of leadership development, which includes the powerful leadership competency of coaching, as our best chance to empower humanity on the journey of opening consciousness. We believe everyone is a leader, and is continually moving on a journey of transformation throughout their lives. Co-Active is the philosophy of wholeness that provides a framework for people to experience the infinite possibilities of life. Co-Active grows you as a leader through conversation, actions, and awareness—and gets you outside your comfort zone, exploring your own boundaries and becoming aware of the impact you’re having around you. The prestigious Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) designation is the most rigorous and respected in the industry. Accredited with the International Coach Federation (ICF), our Co-Active coach training program has been called the “gold standard” of coaching by the Institute of Coaching, a Harvard Medical School affiliate that has linked the Co-Active Model to evidence-based scientific research about its effectiveness. Our Co-Active Models operate at a multidimensional level, honoring the diversity of each individual, and orient you back to the universal experience we share as human beings. Our models provide a framework to return to as you explore your own range. Our faculty members live in 23 countries, and speak 26 languages, with some speaking as many as five languages fluently. Co-Active Coaching: Changing Business, Transforming Lives, now in its 4th edition, is co-authored by our co-founder, Karen Kimsey-House, was called the “Bible of Coaching” by the late author and speaker Stephen Covey. The book is integrated into the curriculum of many top-tier collegiate institutions.

Meet Özlem Kıyat Berber, CTI Senior Program Lead and Co-Active Leadership Program Faculty. She shares a little of her professional journey and what she's learned about leadership on the way. "Growing up as the daughter of a naval officer, my life was constantly in flux – new countries, new cities, new schools. I was always the outsider, the new face in town. This transient lifestyle ignited a curiosity in me for different cultures, languages, and a deep desire to understand power dynamics, relationship systems and find my place within them. This part of my life allowed me to expand my range as a leader and grow my capacity to hold and be with what is. On the other hand, one pivotal chapter in my youth was attending a boarding school at 11 where I was expected to act in a certain way, to conform, which led me to rebel and strongly resist fitting in. What a lovely paradox, don't you think? 😀 Well, embracing diversity and change, of course my professional journey naturally reflected these values I've cherished, providing me with opportunities to work globally from a young age. My clients, who are actually my co-leaders, are lucky to have the Co-Actively trained version of me. Through Co-Activity, I have come to understand that leadership is not about conformity nor rebellion, but it's about blending and leading while maintaining clear boundaries. It is a journey of co-creation. It's alchemy. Much like working with horses. If you have ever experienced being with horses, you know that you can never pretend around them. They always require you to be present, connected and at your best. I think my relationship with them is a reflection of my relationship with Co-Active leadership. Leading also requires a clear sense of purpose and direction, genuine curiosity, deep understanding, and a profound connection to oneself, others, and the environment. It is a collaborative journey of co-leading and co-creating each and every day. And what your best looks like will vary and of course we will fail! What a great opportunity to remember our infinite capacity to recover and fall back in love. 💗 I am thankful to my partners for allowing me to continually grow my capacity. Together, may we ride with love, courage and determination." #coactive #coactiveleadership #coactiveleadershipprogram #coleadership
