    You can't have too many creative ways to get appointments with tough prospects, and this one has worked well for me. I send buyers who refuse to see me a letter with a 30-minute calling card enclosed. In the letter I introduce myself and my company, offer one or two benefits of using my product or service, give the names of one or two other companies I've helped and mention the name of the person(s) who referred me to this prospect, if any. In the next paragraph I write, "Mr. Jones, I have…

In the next paragraph I write, "Mr. Jones, I have given you 30 minutes to call anyone you like. What do I ask? I would really like to stop by, introduce myself and show you how my company can help yours." I close by thanking prospects for their time and telling them to enjoy their free long distance time, then I tell them when I will follow up with them. Over the past five years, I've enjoyed a 90 percent success rate with this letter. Give it a try!
