WE’s Nitin Mantri, who was a shortlisting juror at this year’s Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, sat down during the event to talk with The Drum’s Kendra Barnett about how AI is changing the way the communications industry thinks about creativity, its potential impact for clients and how to navigate the ethics of new technologies. One project I most appreciate being a part of is Young Changemakers, a program WE Communications administers in partnership with PRovoke Media, to recognize and lift promising young comms pros. As I do each year, I spent time recently with each member of this year’s class — Paula Chirinos, Mei Lee and Adina James. Such smart women!    Our discussions were riveting, as we covered everything from managing anxiety and feelings of overwhelm to how digital technology is transforming our industry to fostering mutually beneficial relationships with your mentors. That last one is especially important. I know that I always learn as much from my mentees as I do from my mentors, and these conversations and relationships are key to a successful journey in communications.    #YoungChangemakers

In honor of the United Nations' Nelson Mandela Day, our WE South Africa team gathered today to support the United Nations' theme, "Combatting poverty and inequality is in our hands."  Take a look at this video from WE’s Sarah Gooding to see our WE people are doing just that through today's volunteer activity.      #WECares #mandeladay

A super fun morning with the WE Communications Jozi Team, marking our 67 minutes for Nelson Mandela Day. This year, we packed around 1 000 meals in support of the theme, ‘Combatting poverty and inequality is in our hands.’ It’s uplifting to be able to come together with the whole country on Mandela Day and know that collectively our small acts can help make a difference. A big shout-out to everyone at WE who joined in the effort. Happy Mandela Day! #MandelaDay #WECares

Following our recent panel discussion on the results of the 2024 UK general election, our Director of Corporate Reputation and Brand Purpose, Ryan Larnach, shares his three key takeaways for businesses:   👉 Follow the missions: Labour's 'five missions' present opportunities for businesses to fill gaps in delivery. Ryan advises businesses to be proactive in thinking about how you can serve them.   👉 Public expectations are low: Public opinion of Labour's ability to deliver change is low, but this means any noticeable improvements they make could exceed expectations and resonate strongly with the public. Businesses in a position to contribute to positive change are also likely to benefit from public opinion.   👉 The next government has time: Five years is a long time in politics, but Labour's potential for two terms - boosted by low voter expectations and strong potential to deliver change - provides a longer runway for businesses to adapt and engage.   "These lessons provide a framework for navigating the post-2024 electoral landscape." Ryan says, "Now more than ever, our role is to help organisations thrive in this new political reality."   How are you applying these lessons? I asked Daniel Blank, WE’s Head of Integrated Marketing EMEA, how AI can boost creativity, how it is reshaping agencies and what its future looks like. His answers show how we can harness this creativity, especially in the early stages of our work, and use that as a springboard. And, yes, we still need people.

It’s no surprise that executives around the world see the great potential of AI to transform their organizations in a positive way. What is surprising is how few have clear plans in place for the AI transformation. Three WE tech leaders — Nitin Mantri, Laura Gillen and Tiffany Cook — discuss the vision-action gap WE discovered in new research and how executives can lead a smooth AI transition. What does the future of communications look like? Through our partnership with Meltwater and Microsoft on the launch of Meltwater CoPilot, we are about to see how AI will benefit our industry – especially in the areas of brand reputation, crisis management and competitive advantage.  Learn how WE can guide you on your AI journey.

Empathic leader and business builder through data, analytics, creativity and AI

Last week, I had the opportunity to spend some time in NYC with colleagues and industry smarty pants at the #meltwatersummit to talk #ai and check out the latest technology advancements in analytics. At this event, Meltwater introduced Meltwater CoPilot in partnership with Microsoft which is breaking new ground in the comms industry. It's going to give comms professionals new tools to manage reputation and craft narratives. What was previously exclusive to data scientists and analysts is now readily accessible to all through the power of Microsoft Teams. As a partner to Meltwater and Microsoft, WE Communications is shaping how this will unlock the potential for AI in the realm of communications. We see three benefits for communicators: 1.     Brand Reputation: Quicker access to data that signals market changes, competitive shifts, and emerging influencers puts a communications team in the position to be first to respond and position its brand as a leader in the industry. Speed – when paired with precision – can make a world of difference. 2.     Crisis Management: The democratization of data in Teams will make the real-time monitoring of potential crisis triggers much more accessible. Being able to have a pulse on if a story is starting to breakthrough, what influencers are saying about a brand in real-time, or a world event might impact your company’s narrative.    3.     Competitive Advantage: Communications teams that can swiftly analyze data and react to it can provide a competitive advantage. Quick response to market trends, customer feedback and global events allows a company to stay ahead of its competitors. Your C-suite will love you for this. While Meltwater CoPilot is only available to a limited group of customers, get started now by experimenting with AI tools. My team is guiding many of our clients on their AI journey. We are learning a ton along the way. Holler if you want to talk more.
