We advocate for UNICEF’s work worldwide to ensure that every child is healthy, educated, protected and respected.
About us
Over eight decades, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has built an unprecedented global support system for the world’s children. UNICEF relentlessly works day in and day out to deliver the essentials that give every child an equitable chance in life: health care and immunizations, safe water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. UNICEF USA advances the global mission of UNICEF by rallying the American public to support the world’s most vulnerable children. Together, we have helped save and meaningfully improve more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization.

We’re thrilled to celebrate a #MentalHealth win: Last week, #Pennsylvania passed a budget that includes $100M for expanding access to school-based mental health services across the state. 🎉 Reaching more young people with mental health services and support in schools means helping them thrive in and out of the classroom — and far into their futures. Thank you to all those who advocated for and supported this initiative. 💙

President & CEO of UNICEF USA, Relentlessly Pursuing a More Equitable World For Every Child | Child Rights Activist | Thought Leader
Every week or so, I write a new entry in a journal that I share with my teams at UNICEF USA. Sometimes, the entries are based on organizational updates or my recent conversations with leaders from the humanitarian sector. Other times, the entries feature life updates and reflections. My dog, Izzy, makes the occasional appearance—and yes, her entries get the most enthusiastic responses from my team. Last week, I wrote to them (again) about the polycrisis—the compounding and escalating crises for the world’s children—and how we’re evolving our organizational plan to better meet children’s growing needs. The long list of crises facing children today can be daunting, but here’s a powerful reminder from Nelson Mandela: “It is in your hands to make a better world for all who live in it." I said this a few days ago and I’ll say it again: It is on all of us. It is on each one of us to work toward a better and more equitable world for every child. What a responsibility, and an opportunity, we have. #MandelaDay

This is 7-year-old Retaj, of #Sudan. Someday, she hopes to become a doctor. For now, she hopes war will end.
