It’s a question I’m hearing more and more often: Can one person really make a difference? Yes, and here’s the proof.

Last week I had the honor of speaking with UNICEF USA on the importance of #techequity and the next generation of leaders in solving some of the most important problems society will face in the future. Learning about the work of my fellow panelists Tanya Accone Júlia Leite and Ricardo Andres Pineda Guzman was the highlight of my experience at #SxSw2024 and there were too many to count. The fact that my goddaughters left the panel talking about their futures and the issues facing children across the globe only made it all the more rewarding. I believe we can each, individually, change the world, but wouldn’t it be better if we did it together? I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve taken an official position as “NextGen lead UNICEF Netherlands”, kickstarting a Dutch branch of the UNICEF NextGen programme which aims at uniting and inspiring young philanthropists around the world. Over the last three years I have worked closely together with UNICEF Nederland to talk at various events and, through my philanthropic actions, have helped build 299 classrooms for children in the Ivory Coast. During that time I’ve also been introduced into the global NextGen network; for which I had the pleasure of attending the annual NextGen Summit which was held in Copenhagen. Now it is time for the Next chapter; to use my experience and vision to grow a network that can come together to make the world a better place through shared fund-raising actions, while inspiring each other with our individual skill sets and passions. My personal vision is that every child in the world has the right to be enabled to achieve their dreams. It is through the NextGen programme that I hope to make new steps towards that vision and to find others who share a similar passion.
