  • Calling all young Florida State Seminoles Fans 🗣️ As part of TMH's partnership with Florida State University (FSU), TMH has the opportunity to honor a “Kickoff Kid” on the field at every home football 🏈 game and we need your help to find them! Our Kickoff Kids are children who receive ongoing care at TMH or are graduates of TMH’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). If your child is selected to be the Kickoff Kid, your family will get four tickets to one FSU home game and all four family members (adult or age 11 or younger) will get to go on field before the game starts. The announcer will read information about your child and their care at TMH while your family is shown on the jumbotron. If FSU kicks off, the child will get to run out on the field to retrieve the tee! To be eligible to be the Kickoff Kid, the child must be between the ages of 3 and 11 years old and have been a pediatric patient or NICU grad at TMH. Information about the care the child received at TMH is required to be considered. If your child qualifies and you are interested, please complete the form by July 15 at TMH.ORG/KickoffKid

  • The tiniest Florida State Seminoles are born right here at TMH 🏥! Meet our July Tiny Noles: Wren and Hazel 👶👶 At 25 weeks and 6 days into her pregnancy, Laura was admitted to our Antenatal Care Unit, where she spent five days before her water broke on April 19, 2024. Laura and her husband, Taylor, welcomed Wren (left) and Hazel (right) to their family at 2:24 am via cesarean section (C-section). At birth, Wren weighed 1 lb., 6 oz., and Hazel weighed 1 lb., 4 oz. Now, both girls have tripled their weight. Wren is 4 lb., 8 oz., and Hazel is 4 lb., 10 oz.! After 68 days in our Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the girls moved to our Level II NICU about a week ago. They are both taking bottles and breastfeeding now, continuing to grow. Originally from Mississippi, Laura and Taylor are high school sweethearts. With family in Tallahassee, they decided to move here when the opportunity arose for Taylor to work at Florida State University. Now, Taylor works in Sponsored Research Administration at FSU, and Laura is a lactation consultant at Health and Lactation, LLC. They can’t wait to bring Wren and Hazel home and spend time as a family with their three older children. We’re partnering with Florida State Athletics each month to highlight the newest and smallest Seminole fans being cared for in our NICU. Go Wren and Hazel and go Noles!

  • Chiwei Yang, a monitor technician in the Centralized Telemetry Surveillance Center, was recently recognized with an ICARE Value Award for consistently demonstrating our TMH values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. Chiwei's colleague shared the following in their nomination: "Chiwei regularly steps up as a team player and goes above and beyond to help her colleagues. She comes in on her day off if needed and has also worked overnight shifts to help out, even though she typically works the dayshift. She deserves this special recognition and much more. We need more colleagues like Chiwei who regularly show her team that she is a rockstar team player who upholds ICARE values daily!" Congratulations, Chiwei! 🌟

  • We are happy to welcome Shane McEntire, MD, to TMH Physician Partners – Services by Southern Medical Group! ⚕️ Dr. McEntire specializes in vascular surgery and looks forward to helping SMG build a robust vascular surgery service line. Dr. McEntire received his bachelor's degree in biology from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps of the US Army, going on to eventually become a medical platoon leader. Dr. McEntire attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and went on to complete a general surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He also completed a vascular surgery fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. After 24 years of service, Dr. McEntire retired from the US Army as a Colonel. 🎉 As he was planning his future career after retirement from the army, Dr. McEntire was made aware of SMG looking to start a vascular surgery service line. After much research, he believed it would be a good fit! In his free time, Dr. McEntire enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters — including going on vacations and roller skating. He also spends much time at the gym exercising and trying to stay healthy. Please join us in welcoming Dr. McEntire! 👋 👋 👋

  • In the United States, more than 3,000 children under the age of 15 are sent to the emergency room 🚑 each year because of fireworks 🎆 While fireworks can make any celebration a spectacular event, they can also cause serious harm and are not safe for children. Even sparklers can be dangerous as they burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit and account for one-third of the injuries to children under five. Before tomorrow’s festivities 🇺🇸, Safe Kids of Big Bend wanted to share a few tips to keep your child safe around fireworks: 🎇 If possible, attend a public fireworks show 🎇 Give children glow sticks instead of sparklers 🎇 Keep fireworks away from children

  • Derrick Schneggenburger recently received an ICARE Value Award for the excellent care he provided a patient not even assigned to him. After noticing a fellow nurse could use a hand with a confused patient during a busy shift, Derrick didn't hesitate to step in and help. Derrick took time to check on and talk to the patient throughout his 12-hour shift, which calmed him and kept him in bed to avoid a potential fall. Derrick's actions had a positive impact on the patient's experience at TMH but also helped make his colleague's shift run a little smoother, too. Congratulations to Derrick for being recognized for embodying our ICARE values! We appreciate all you do for our patients, colleagues and community.
