How can you save your patients money? It starts with a conversation. https://sure.sc/4eLj0Nj “The workflow you build for prescribers should open the door to a conversation with the patient about costs, and the patient will have that conversation—even though they would never bring it up themselves,” says Michael Blackman, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Information Officer of Greenway Health in Tampa, Florida. Surescripts’ Debbie McNamara spoke with Dr. Blackman and Mary Ann Fore-Martinez, Nurse Practitioner and Chief Operating Officer of CLINICA SANTA MARIA in Brownsville, Texas, about the importance of real-time cost and coverage insights. See what they have to say.

Our Matt Koehler shared this statement following the release of additional guidance supporting #TEFCA and the Common Agreement 2.0: Learn more about how Surescripts is advancing health intelligence sharing [link in comments] “We commend the swift action by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and Recognized Coordinating Entity (RCE) The Sequoia Project, to bring together health technology stakeholders to reach consensus and produce meaningful guidance related to the implementation of TEFCA’s Common Agreement 2.0. This guidance strikes the appropriate balance of preserving the integrity and trust that serve as the foundation for health information exchange while maintaining patient access to care by limiting the use of this information to clinicians, defined as those who are involved and responsible for direct patient care, including physicians, pharmacists and other care providers as directed by individual states. Additionally, we appreciate and support the commitment by the RCE, ONC, and industry stakeholders to rapidly iterate on these policies to add support for new innovative use cases. “As Surescripts and healthcare industry leaders continue to innovate, advancing technology and interoperability, protecting patient information and ensuring appropriate use is critical to supporting clinicians in their role of providing patients safe, quality and less costly care. “The guidance released is consistent with our commitment to preserving the integrity of each one of the billions of exchanges of health intelligence supported by the Surescripts network and by each of our Network Alliance participants, because of what it means for patients and the people who care for them.”
When Common Agreement V2 was published in the Federal Register on May 1, 2024, some operating details from Common Agreement V1.1 were moved to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
