Hey everyone, I'm Ivy Tsang, Product Designer at SmartPass here to share one of our latest (and one of my favorite) feature updates – 𝐎𝐧𝐞-𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐥 🎉 As the design + product lead, I focused on understanding the critical information teachers need to take action on student pass requests. Teachers often juggle numerous tasks at once, and we saw how overwhelming it can be to handle multiple pass requests from students. I collaborated with my team to translate this into the most efficient, easy to use, and intuitive experience for teachers. With our latest update, we’ve made it easier than ever for teachers to manage pass requests smoothly. 𝐍𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠! Teachers can now respond to pass requests with a single tap. For overwhelming days, this feature lets teachers see student messages on a single hover to avoid the need to click into each pass to approve or deny. This update focuses all on making SmartPass easy to use and saving time for our hardworking teachers. We couldn't have done this without feedback from our incredible community of schools, who ensure we build what truly matters to teachers. 💚 #productdesign #teachers #schools

Having an incredible time at ISTE, and wanted to share my top 3 tips for making the most out of it: 1. The Small Plate Rule 🍽️: If you're invited to a happy hour or dinner with a buffet, never fully fill your plate. Every trip to the food line is a golden opportunity to meet someone new, and every time you sit at a table is a chance to spark a conversation with someone you don't know. 2. The LinkedIn Tip 📱: After a long day of networking, take a few moments before bed to message everyone you met on LinkedIn. Include a tidbit from your conversation to help them remember you, and to jog your memory too. It's a great way to build lasting connections! 3. Have Fun! 🎊: This is your chance to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who share your passions and interests. Embrace the experience, learn, and enjoy every moment! Co-founder, CTO @ SmartPass | Forbes 30 under 30

At our monthly all-hands, we opened up the floor for questions, and we got a really fantastic one: “What is your non-monetary vision for SmartPass in the next year? How will this be reflected in our culture and team make-up?” Initially, I thought to give a straightforward answer about our mission, but I had time to prep and decided to dive deeper. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the concept of Ikigai — a Japanese term that signifies the intersection of what you love, what you are good at, what you can be paid for, and what the world needs. My dad introduced me to it as a personal development framework, and I realized it can be applied to companies as well. SmartPass has found its Ikigai: 1. Passion: We’re passionate about solving problems for school principals with our software, evident from our incredibly hard-working and dedicated team. 2. Talent: We excel at it, as shown by our customer feedback, NPS scores, and CSAT scores. 3. Value: We create value that people are willing to pay for, enabling us to invest in our team and provide a strong ROI for our customers. 4. Need: Principals tell us that they need our solutions because we solve hair on fire problems. This is our purpose. Over the next year, we will continue to deepen this purpose by: - Exploring new challenges to solve for our customers. - Cultivating our passion through empathy and understanding. - Developing our talents further. - Building a workplace where everyone feels connected to our mission.

Hey everyone, I'm Elaine Atzmon, founding product designer at SmartPass, and I'm taking over LinkedIn today to share some exciting updates about Schedules! Admins and teachers are juggling a hundred different things at any given moment, and I see Schedules as our way of lightening that load and giving schools the reassurance they need in their buildings without having multiple tabs open. I focused on bringing Schedules into the teacher and student experiences. This included adding the day type, period countdown and rostered classes to the teacher homepage. With Schedules: 🍎 Teachers are now able to easily see their current students with a new shortcut to create a pass right from the student name. 🍎 Teachers and students no longer need to select the student’s starting room since we know where that student is scheduled to be! 🍎 Students will also see the day type on their homepage now, even when there’s a modified bell schedule. And that only scratches the surface! Schedules has been such a massive effort for the entire team and the impact it’s making on schools is already so exciting to see. From safety to efficiency, Schedules has taken the entire product to the next level and made SmartPass even smarter. The beautiful thing about SmartPass is we build directly from feedback. Schedules is no exception and it was a huge collaborative effort both across SmartPass teams and with our wonderful community of users. Can’t wait to see everything Schedules brings to K-12 schools! #productdesign #thankyou #k12
