#SFDPH is proud to inspire the next generation of public health and health care leaders through our Pathways program, a mentorship program that aims to connect Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) youth with mentors across the City and County of San Francisco. The program offers three cohorts per year and provides a wide array of opportunities for interns to connect to various city resources for career options. This week, #SFDPH employees and community members attended free screenings of the documentary, “Power to Heal: Medicare and the Civil Rights Revolution.” Presented by California Physicians Alliance (CaPA) , the film educates on the historic struggle for equitable health care access. Through learning partnerships like this, #SFDPH Office of Health Equity continues to develop ways to incorporate health equity into our daily practices. Yesterday, #SFDPH employees celebrated Black love and happiness at the second annual SFDPH Juneteenth event. SFDPH is committed to addressing health disparities so all San Franciscans can enjoy health and positive wellbeing.

Director of Health Dr. Grant Colfax and the #SFDPH Office of Health Equity honored the inaugural cohort of student interns from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) at an event this morning hosted by the City’s Human Rights Commission. The event kicked off the internships, which are part of the city’s Black to SF program. #SDPH is proud to host four interns this summer.

More than 140 #SFDPH leaders and staff recently joined the HR conference on Strengthening Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racist Practices. Through a workshop led by Dr. Adina (she/her) Sterling of Columbia University, HR leaders and staff learned about methods to strengthen equity and address bias. #SFDPH is proud to put equity at the center of its work with employees and the community.
