This past weekend marked a pivotal new chapter for RISE TOGETHER as we welcomed the next wave of storytellers through our comprehensive speaker training program. It was truly inspiring to witness each chosen participant open up, share their stories, and dive deep into their whys. We were honored to share RISE TOGETHER’s journey, highlighting where we’ve been and where we're headed. Our participants learned the power of advocacy, the importance of clear and compelling storytelling, and how to connect emotionally with their audience. By the end of the weekend, they had crafted impactful 15-minute speeches, ready to inspire and engage youth in communities nationwide in the coming school year. Seeing the dedication and growth of each participant meant a lot to us personally, reaffirming our mission and vision for the future. Unfortunately, a couple of people couldn't attend in person, but we are considering a follow-up training. If you're interested, please comment below. As the sun sets on our time in California, we're gearing up for two final days of impact and inspiration. Friday marks the culmination of our 'We Are Not Alone Tour' in the Golden State, and we're determined to make it count. From Santa Rosa's lively streets to Petaluma and Laguna's serene landscapes, each stop has shaped this healing journey that we have been on. Our journey began with a commitment to make a difference, and Sonoma County Public Health and The Social Changery has embraced us with open arms every step of the way. In Sonoma County Juvenile Hall, we witnessed the power of storytelling and advocacy, empowering young adults to find their voices and share their stories for the first time. At Santa Rosa Junior College, we shared our journeys of hope and recovery, equipping stakeholders with tools to support those in need. From San Antonio High School to Laguna High School, students echoed appreciation, love, and inspiration, reminding us that it's okay not to be OK and that we can make a difference together. But it doesn't stop there as we head back to Redwood High School, five years later, to teach the youth of today on how to share their story and use their voices for change. As we prepare to bid farewell to California, let's carry the spirit of this journey with us wherever we go. Let's continue to stand up, speak out, and advocate for change in our communities, one moment at a time. Reflecting on the journey of 2024 thus far, it's been an incredible ride on our RISExSAFE We Are Not Alone 10-city tour. The moments of connection and impact have been truly remarkable. From reconnecting with students we spoke to a decade ago who are now educators, to bringing our son along for the journey and witnessing firsthand the ripple effect of our work on future generations, every experience has been deeply meaningful. This past week was particularly special as we had the opportunity to speak at Seminole County High Schools. We shared powerful stories throughout 8 high schools, engaging with up to 5,000 students, reminding them that there is #noshame in asking for help and that their stories truly matter. The impact of this work fills our hearts with gratitude. As we approach the conclusion of our tour, we are reminded of the incredible support and dedication of everyone who has joined us along the way.
