Today, in the heart of Orlando, Florida, we experienced something special. At Brantley High School, it wasn't just about celebrating recovery—it was about coming together as a community and sharing in moments that will stay with us for years.
From students bravely stepping forward to share their stories to the overwhelming support from our partners and local resources, today was a testament to the strength and unity of our Orlando partners.
We want you to know there's #noshame in seeking help. Your journey is important, and your story matters. Together, we're breaking down the barriers of stigma surrounding mental health challenges and showing that seeking support is an act of courage, not weakness.
Orlando, your resilience is inspiring. Let's continue to stand together, supporting one another and creating a community where everyone feels empowered to live the healthy lives they deserve. Keep shining your light bright—you are making a real difference.
SAFE Project & Seminole County Sheriff's Office thank you!

A moment of advice for all non-California folks working with California-based teammembers: fire season has officially begun in California. We so far do not have any loss of human life, but we do have 12 active wildfires across California right now resulting in burned homes and businesses, decreased air quality, heightened stress, and resurging PTSD.
Here are some things you can do if you work with colleagues in California:
- Be patient.
- Before reaching out with an urgent ask, check online to see if there are any active fires in their region.
- During check-ins, ask if your teammembers and their communities are doing okay.
- Recognize that folks might be a bit distracted right now.
- Understand that many Californians have family and friends spread across the state in multiple fire regions.
Whatever you do, please don't diminish the impact of chronic stress faced by those in fire paths.
You can be a source of support to those on your team. Please be one.

Our children are in crisis, and they need our help.
Nearly half of young people will battle a mental health disorder, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) says more than two-thirds of children experience at least one traumatic childhood experience by age 16.
Our Florida Blue Foundation is joining the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in a 4-year, $10 million partnership to help train staff at local clubs throughout the country to better support the emotional and mental well-being of our children. The Florida Blue Foundation is contributing $400,000 for clubs here in Florida. So far, nearly half of the state’s 294 Boys & Girls Clubs locations have already started adopting trauma-informed practices.

🙏🏼 Tragic Incident at a Jewish School in East Memphis: A Call to Prioritize Mental Health Care 🧠💔
As a resident of East Memphis, I was deeply shaken by the events that unfolded this past Monday at a Jewish school in our neighborhood.
The shooting that occurred at the school, where innocent lives could have been lost hit home in a way, I never imagined it could.
It is troubling to know that a person struggling with mental health issues could reach such a breaking point without receiving the necessary help and support.
The shooting incident that occurred right in our backyard, where my own grandchildren go to school, was undoubtedly a harrowing experience.
The hours of lockdown and the fear that gripped our community are not easily forgotten. But amidst this darkness, let us use this tragedy as a catalyst for change.
As a consultant, I have had the privilege of working with various organizations, including healthcare facilities, to streamline their processes and improve their services.
However, this recent tragedy has highlighted the stark reality that our healthcare system must also prioritize caring for mental health patients and providing accessible and effective treatments.
It's a stark reminder of the urgent need to address mental health in our society.
Let's break the stigma and prioritize mental well-being, ensuring accessible and compassionate care for all.
My commitment to advocating for mental health improvements in healthcare systems has never been stronger.
Together, we can create a safer, more caring world for ourselves and future generations. 🤝

May is Mental Health and Older Americans Month, a reminder to prioritize self-care; destigmatize discussions of mental well-being; and honor the wisdom, experience, and resilience of our seniors while addressing issues affecting them. Let's shine a light on inner struggles, foster empathy and understanding and address issues such as healthcare, social isolation, and elder abuse. Together, we can eliminate barriers, offer support, and build resilience. Remember, “It's okay not to be okay,” and seeking help is a sign of strength.
We provide legal support regarding Guardianship and Elder Law and ensure the rights and well-being of individuals are protected! If you have questions regarding Elder Law or Guardianship, call our office at 904-436-5016.

I love what Tim Barker is doing with Kooth Digital Health (United Kingdom). They are a £20m revenue Uk business with good growth and financial characteristics. And last year won a big contract competitively to deliver their service to the state of California. But that’s not the story…… so what’s the story?
Profit with Purpose!!!!
They have a greater social purpose, they “create a welcoming special for effective personalised digital mental health care. Accessible to all” - and not only in the UK, they recently won the contract to deliver this service in the state of California.
From their 2022 annual report:
“We offer rapid and responsive access to support without thresholds, stigma, or waiting lists, in a way that resonates with those in need of help. Our model is responding to a global mental health crisis which is driving long-term demand for digital mental health and is seeing significant ongoing funding commitments. Global mental health crisis
The human and economic impact of poor mental health make for deeply concerning reading. In the US, 57% of teen girls feel persistently sad or hopeless. 22% of high school students seriously considered suicide in the past year. In the UK, latest statistics for 2021 show a record 4.3 million people were referred for mental health services, a rise of 15 percent from the previous year. In 2021, US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy called for urgent action to transform access to mental health care for young people, calling it the 'defining public health crisis of our time.”
Chapeau Tim! Much needed. Delighted and honoured that you are a Boardwave member.
Other CEO members, what’s your “Purpose” and it’s probably not a return to shareholders. Or to grow your business, or make more money?
Accelerated by the pandemic, todays talent want to work at businesses that have purpose and meaning. If it’s not a core value or part of your proposition it’s likely to be more challenging to hire and retain your teams. It doesn’t have to relate to your products, but should be integrated into your culture. We don’t exist in isolation to the communities we serve in 2024. That’s why we will be launching our #impactpartner programme on Feb 20th at our next big networking event. Be sure to register

It's interesting when I hear someone talk about suicide and they think the answer is "just don't do it." It would be nice if it was that simple. It's not though.
When someone's life is so dark and they see no light around them, they may try to figure out a solution to help them feel better. Suicide is not the answer. Though to some people, it becomes their solution and way to find relief.
When you see someone sad, lonely, depressed, or just get a "I wonder if they're okay" vibe, take a moment and think of a way that you could be a ray of light for then. Then do it. Even if it's just for a moment. Every second counts, every kind word matters, and one person can save a life. You can be that person that someone needs, even if it's just a moment.
