Restoring a resilient earth for a modern world

About us

As the nation’s largest nature-based solutions company, RES (Resource Environmental Solutions) is restoring a resilient earth for a modern world, project by project. RES creates durable, resilient natural infrastructure for communities through solutions for environmental mitigation, stormwater and water quality, and climate and flooding resilience. RES has a unique operating model for delivering ecological mitigation and restoration projects, based on science-led design, full delivery, and long-term performance. From headwaters to coastal shores, RES designs, builds, and sustains sites that preserve the environmental balance, lifting impaired ecosystems to restored health and ultimately, self-sufficiency. These projects restore sensitive wetland, prairie, and species habitats as well as floodplains, streams, river valleys, and coastal and tidal systems. The result is nature-based systems that cleanse water, shelter wildlife, buffer storms, and sequester carbon from the atmosphere.

🌿 A New Chapter for Blackwater Creek 🌊 AECOM - Water Stream Team are on site performing full-time construction observation and inspection and we’re thrilled to announce a monumental leap in this ecological restoration phase of the project! With the College Lake Dam now removed after 90 years, we’ve unshackled Blackwater Creek, allowing fish to thrive and sediment to flow naturally once again in the City of Lynchburg. 🚧 Resource Environmental Solutions LLC is our dedicated construction crew on-site, embarking on the next phase: stream and wetland restoration. These innovative toe wood structures are being installed offline and once flows are diverted to the area are set to fortify the stream banks against erosion, all while nurturing vegetation and creating a sanctuary for fish. This isn’t just construction; it’s the emergence of life for Blackwater Creek, missing for decades. Stay tuned as we revive the heartbeat of this ecosystem! 🐟💧 #BlackwaterCreekWetlands #ecosystemrestoration #streamrestoration #NatureHeals Lynchburg Water Resources AECOM MBP (McDonough Bolyard Peck)

  • Check out our team's incredible work transforming this floodplain wetland in North Central Pennsylvania! Notice the tree in the background, which witnessed it all. RES was engaged to develop and implement a Remedial Action Plan to improve the wetland hydrology and vegetative development within a failing off-site compensatory mitigation (PRM) project. Improper design and excavation had resulted in excessive ponding in the restored wetlands, failing to meet the project goals, preventing the wetland from vegetating, and negatively impacting the ecology of the abutting trout stream. Check out the progression of our work: Photo 1: In its pre-RES involvement state, the site was dominated by a large stagnant pool ringed by a monoculture of cattail. Photo 2: Geotextile coffer dams at work, keeping the area dry as our team leveled the floodplain. Photo 3: Jute erosion control matting in place, with grasses from the erosion control seed mix starting to sprout and several new native tree and shrub plantings. Photo 4: Native vegetation and shrubs thriving, showing the site is on a successful path to complete floodplain restoration. Awesome work team! #WeAreRES #transformationTuesday #wetlands

  • We are proud to announce the successful completion of the Lockport Prairie and Prairie Bluff Ecosystem Restoration project, in partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Will County and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Lockport Prairie and Prairie Bluff are home to a rare and vital ecosystem that provides habitat to the federally endangered Hine’s emerald dragonfly (photo credit: Richard & Susan Day/Danita Delimont). Our restoration efforts have been essential in preserving and enhancing these natural habitats. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Friday, May 31st, to celebrate the completion of the project. We welcome the community to explore and enjoy these restored natural areas. #ecologicalrestoration #WeAreRES

  • Check out "Roots So Deep," a compelling new four-part docuseries highlighting the groundbreaking efforts of innovative farmers and scientists dedicated to improving soil health. Our RES team collaborated with grazing consultants and other organizations to identify 90 potential regenerative farmers to include in our research. We traveled with Peter Byck, an ASU professor and filmmaker, visited farms, and selected the best candidates. The series features appearances from Ry Thompson, RES Project Manager and Ecologist, and Patrick Daniels, Ecologist. It’s World Fish Migration Day! Let’s elevate and celebrate the importance of free-flowing rivers and migratory fish! Here are a few of the fish passage improvement projects where RES is playing a key role: California: We are leading the restoration component of the Klamath River Renewal Project, where 400+ stream miles of habitat is being reopened by the removal of four aging dams this year. We're planting 2,200 acres with native seeds and ensuring tributary connectivity to boost salmon and steelhead populations. This project is vital to several tribes who have relied on the Klamath River for generations. North Carolina: In 2023, we, along with American Rivers, secured a NOAA grant to demolish and restore aging dams on the Deep River, including one in Ramseur, slated for removal in late 2025. Additionally, we are part of the team awarded the Ela Dam Removal Project in Swain County, providing permitting support, channel design, native revegetation, and river restoration. This project holds significant environmental and cultural importance for the Eastern Band of the Cherokee, supporting threatened fish and mussel species in Western North Carolina. #WorldFishMigrationDay reminds us that a migrating fish is a happy fish! #WeAreRES #FreeFlow #happyfish
