The Forest Preserve’s Take It Outside Challenge launched in 2023 and was an immediate hit with members of the public. Throughout the year, 1,200 people completed missions to earn points and prizes. Along the way, they discovered new preserves, improved their health, learned about nature and make new friends. By the time the challenge wrapped up on Dec. 31, 117,000 mission submissions were received. #conservation

We just love seeing the huge response we've had to our line of cicada shirts! It's always good to turn an event like the upcoming cicada emergence into a fundraiser for The Nature Foundation of Will County. #conservation #shirts #onlineshopping

Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon is the first nature center in the country to receive accreditation as an inclusive facility from the National Inclusion Project. The effort means Four Rivers is becoming a go-to place for local groups in need of accessible programming and facilities. “I love that this is a place, an outdoor place, a place that offers experiences in nature that really include everybody,” she Kim Bus, a lead direct support professional with Little Friends in Warrenville. “Anybody can come here. We’ve brought folks in wheelchairs; we’ve brought folks with walkers. The paths are paved and very nice. They can get right down to the river without much of a problem. They really thought things through when they designed this place.” #inclusionmatters #inclusion #accessibility #accessforall #conservation #willcounty

It's fair to say our 2023 Take It Outside campaign and accompanying app challenge through Goosechase took off way more than we anticipated. It was so exciting to see so many new people flocking to our preserves and completing so many missions. We heard many stories of how it helped people get in shape. Many users visited forest preserves and visitor centers they've never been to before. People became friends after repeatedly seeing each other while out doing missions. They also learned about nature and gained a greater appreciation for it as well as a better understanding of why our conservation efforts are important. While it's great to see those missions coming in and the activity chart blowing up, it's even more satisfying to see the positive impact the Take It Outside campaign has had on so many lives. And we're back at it again this year, making it bigger and hopefully better to introduce even more people to the fantastic forest preserves and trails in Will County. With more than 23,000 acres and more than 130 miles of trails, there's plenty to explore. Here's the complete look at the 2024 Take It Outside Challenge: https://lnkd.in/gQPqtYUf. #conservationefforts #outdooradventures #outdoorrecreation #forestpreserves #nature
💭 Did you know... The Forest Preserve District of Will County hosted the largest Goosechase Experience EVER with over 117,000 submissions! 🌲

The 2023 Take It Outside Challenge took the county by storm, so we're doing the obvious thing by bringing it back ... and making it bigger and better. A big shout out to The Nature Foundation of Will County for providing funding and a long list of prizes, as well as Wild Birds Unlimited in Joliet for providing a variety of prize packs. #outdoors #naturelovers #conservation
