  • Last week, Mark Hagerott PhD gave a presentation on the emergence of generative AI, intelligent machines and the metaverse during an Annual Meeting held by the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association’s (SHEEO) in Washington, D.C. The chancellor spoke about how generative AI will challenge higher education systems as profoundly as the invention of the internet and how state university systems will be called upon to help their communities thrive as artificially intelligent worlds emerge. He also spoke about resiliency and how leaders must prioritize adaptability and transformability in the AI realm while maximizing reliability and meeting the day-to-day needs of students.

  • Governor Doug Burgum has issued a proclamation this week declaring April 21-27 as Finish the FAFSA Week in North Dakota. Along with the North Dakota University System, Bank of North Dakota, North Dakota Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and Department of Public Instruction, Burgum is urging all high school seniors and their families to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-25 academic year. North Dakota is down more than 25% in completed FAFSA submissions from this same time last year, which could be due in part to the challenges and delays with the new FAFSA launch this year. The goal of the proclamation is to highlight financial aid possibilities for students who have not yet applied. Read more at: https://bit.ly/4aRueO8
