The Thompson Fire threatens to have an impact similar to the Camp Fire. Burning in a largely agricultural area, this fire threatens to displace residents, many of whom are low-income farmworkers, often migrants. Now, in the outrageous heat, 107 yesterday, power is shut off and the fire is spreading. Many effected families lack transportation and vital heat resources like cooling centers are taking the backseat to critical fire response. On top of this, health centers in the area are now threatened with an influx of patients they may be unprepared for. The current climate of escalating anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies poses significant risks to the mental and physical health of immigrant communities. This harmful narrative not only perpetuates fear and anxiety but also contributes to an environment of hostility and discrimination. Our clinicians are on the front lines, witnessing firsthand the detrimental effects these narratives have on their patients. The Witness to Witness program at MCN has a new campaign #WordsMatter. We invite you to support Witness to Witness today. #WitnessToWitness https://lnkd.in/eJyf3X-w

Esta política no cumple con estos derechos básicos. Les invitamos a leer nuestra posición oficial aquí: https://lnkd.in/gVHNrK8S

MCN applauds the proposed federal heat standard that will help thousands of workers, including immigrants laboring in our fields and building our homes. Last year was the hottest year on record and workers died. The Biden Administration is moving to save the lives of workers. Read the proposed rule here:
