Looks like a promising model that's needed now more than ever! 🕊️ "The Crosscurrents Dialogue Model (CDM) was developed to explore if Americans with different political perspectives could have useful policy conversations. To date, the CDM participants have addressed 10 separate topics such as health care and immigration and reached agreements each time. CDM provides evidence that the divide between politically diverse Americans can be bridged adequately to agree on specific recommendations for action." #dialogue #conversations #courageousconversations #difficultconversations #dei #policy #publichealth #healthequity #problemsolving

Founder & CEO @Teku | Triple Board Certified Child & Forensic Psychiatrist | Health Equity Scholar | Writer | Speaker
It’s 2024, and I, a Forensic psychiatrist, may find this while reviewing clinical records… “The noncitizen reports…” Reminder: Whether a patient comes from jail or an immigration center, they are human, and they are *patients* you’re serving. Words matter! When documenting your clinical notes, you can use “Patient reported” or their name “John reported.” If you need a reminder for person centered language across a variety of populations, here’s a start https://lnkd.in/gVGx3QfA #immigration #justice #patientcenteredcare #humanity

This is a welcome update on Dahlgren & Whitehead's determinants of health conceptual model; framed in the idea, to borrow from Camara Jones "racism is the water we all swim in". To borrow further from Dr Elana Curtis and apply an indigenous lens, colonisation and imperialism are the poisoned water sources of systemically racist societies. Decolonisation, anti-colonial action and indigenisation needs to sit alongside anti-racism to achieve health equity. #indigenoushealthequity #anticolonial #antiracism #indigenousdeterminantsofhealth
📣 New Blog: Tackling ethnic inequalities through anti-racist interventions in primary care Ethnic inequalities are all around us and driven by stigma, discrimination and structures within society. But what can be done to address them? Shoba Poduval Jennifer Yip and Prof. Kevin Fenton CBE have recently reviewed anti-racist interventions to address ethnic inequalities in health care. They highlight living and working conditions, health care services, social and community networks and individual lifestyle factors. In this blog the authors reflect on what this means for primary care. No single organisation can address ethnic inequalities, but primary care has a vital role.
