Keswick was set ablaze with bouquets of beautiful flowers this week! The flowers were a gift from former volunteers Lauren and Rohan, who donated them from their recent weddings. They chose Keswick because of their wonderful experiences as volunteers, and they wanted to show their gratitude to Keswick residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers. Thanks, Lauren and Rohan! We wish you all the best!

“Juneteenth should really be a rallying call for all of us to think about the meaning of freedom, particularly regarding African Americans, as well as to the nation and the rest of the world.” – Mary Elliott, Curator of American Slavery at the National Museum of African American History & Culture Taking this to heart, the Keswick team celebrated Juneteenth this year with an intentional and vibrant event featuring inspiring words from Mr. Charlie Dugger, uplifting vocals from Ms. Karen Simmons, and exhilarating African drumming and dancing by the African Legacy Cultural Arts Association. The program was filled with historical insights, audience participation, reflections on the significance of Juneteenth, and powerful community-building. What a day!

Congratulations are in order for Arielle Pratt, our most recent recipient of the honored Ceca Award. The Ceca Award, which stands for “Celebrating Caregivers,” was created by the non-profit Ceca Foundation to recognize and reward the work of exceptional caregivers in healthcare settings like Keswick. Arielle is our recreation coordinator who brings joy and fun to Keswick residents through daily activities and engagement. She’s a valued contributor to creating a strong and supportive community at Keswick. Nice work, Arielle! #keswick #baltimore

We value our employees and their daily contributions to our wonderful community. That’s why we recently celebrated them with a special breakfast, lunch from local food trucks, and a "cool" treat from Kona Ice. Additionally, employees were honored with various awards for displaying compassionate care to our residents.

On May 21, Adam Decker (Senior Director of Keswick Community Health) had the opportunity to present Carmel Roques, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Aging, at the Maryland Gerontological Association’s (MGA) conference. Adam shared with the audience Keswick’s mission and accomplishments, and the event proved to be a great opportunity to foster community with other people and organizations also dedicated to improving the quality of life of older adults and their families.

A community is just like a quilt: It’s a collection of individual, unique stories pieced together to create a larger, communal narrative. In honor of the rich history of quilt making and community building, Keswick residents and Wise & Well members worked collaboratively, under the guidance of Notre Dame University's Art Therapy program interns, to create a quilt that represents Keswick’s vibrant community spirit.

Last week we celebrated National Skilled Nursing Care Week! To honor our dedicated Keswick employees who do their part every day, we organized a special giveaway event. Did you know that approximately 1.5 million skilled nurses across the country work tirelessly in long-term care facilities and post-acute care settings? These professionals are instrumental in caring for over 800,000 residents annually, from the elderly to those recovering from surgeries or managing chronic conditions. At Keswick, we celebrate our skilled nurses who compassionately improve the experience of aging for our residents every day.
