Ageism & Ableism are so deeply ingrained in society and can be so subtly expressed that we are unaware of how they impact our thoughts and actions. That subtlety can extend into the care partnership. What do you think? How might ageism and ableism impact care partnerships and how might we counteract that? Join us for the conversation! (Community Track) This is an Eden Member gathering. Calling all youth and adolescents! 🌟 As part of a youth-led initiative to bring more focus onto adolescent and youth activist well-being and collective care, Community Care Collective (CCC) is launching a Care Space for young advocates (both virtually and in-person in New York) at the upcoming Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68). 🌟 This space is created FOR YOU(!), and your expertise from your own experiences is central to our work! During CSW68, our Care Space will be dedicated to providing rest, reflection, and creativity for adolescent and youth activists amidst the demands of high-level conferences. 🌟 To better take care of one another, as activists are often expected to be tireless for our causes, we would love to involve youth, especially adolescents, in co-creating this Care Space. We plan to support adolescent and youth activists with sessions and tools to support themselves and others, without feeling overwhelmed or guilty for upholding healthy boundaries - especially during CSW68! ➡ High-level events such as CSW can take their toll on us physically and mentally, so we welcome you into our Care Space to recharge, be your authentic self, and find joy. ➡ There is power in collective care and CCC creates a community that uplifts and holds space for one another in systems that often further competition and silos. Collective & community care embodies a shared responsibility for each member’s well-being, fostering a culture of mutual support and elevating community. As Community Care Collective, we are on a mission to end the tokenization of young people, to end the normalization of burnout for young activists, and to prioritize mental health, community care, and joy! Your voice matters! 🌟 We are calling adolescents and youth who are ready to lead sessions on well-being, community, collective care, rest, activist mental health, creative writing, treating stress and burnout in youth, and many other related topics. This space is for us, by us! 📩 Please reach out to nour.commcarecollective@gmail.com if you are a youth with a story that you are ready to tell or a workshop that you are ready to run. You could lead a session, co-lead a session, help add your voice to a workshop, etc. ⌛ Deadline: February 10, 2024 Kindly share your ideas with a short proposal and your reasons for wanting to host a space will suffice (1 page max), or any questions. We're so excited to hear from you, and appreciate your knowledge, expertise, and involvement as activists with unique perspectives of activism - both the workload and the rewards. We look forward to hearing from you! During National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) the Australian Institute for Family Studies is holding a webinar titled 'Relationships Matter: Walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents’. The webinar will explore ways that practitioners can build a deeper connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and discuss ways to work collaboratively with families to build trust and genuine connection, supporting professionals to: • develop a whole of community approach to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families • develop a curious and non-stigmatising approach that allows families to identify their stressors and worries, including experiences of trauma, loss and racism • support families to identify motivators, including strengths, skills, connections, hopes and dreams • understand how to take a child-centred approach by placing the child’s voice front and centre in conversations with family and community members.
