  • Change starts with everyone realizing that racial equity work is not ‘for other people.’ We are only interested in partnering when there is sincere investment and power shifting that comes from strategically prioritizing Black and Brown leadership. Not because it’s the “nice” or “kind” thing to do – but because: ➡️ It accelerates impact. ➡️ It increases profitability. ➡️ It deepens mission fulfillment. We’re celebrating 25 years of co-creating these conditions at mission-driven organizations where people are ready and willing to connect with untouched aspects of their humanity.  Because demographic shift is not in the future. 2030 is now. #25YearsofKHA #RacialEquity #BIPOCLeadership #Humanity #DemographicShift

This week marks the start of the 30th anniversary of Reproductive Justice, a movement championed by inspiring founding mothers who laid the groundwork for our ongoing fight for equality and justice. While attending a conference in Chicago from July 29-31, 1994, they became frustrated with its singular focus on abortion. They needed an agenda that addressed the unique concerns and lived experiences of Black women and girls who faced tremendous health inequities like high rates of infant and maternal mortality, breast cancer, fibroids, sexual and intimate partner violence, HIV/AIDS, and other STIs . After meeting in a hotel room, the term “Reproductive Justice” was coined. We invite you to honor their legacy by joining @BlackWomensRJ and downloading our toolkit to become an #RJVoter. Learn about their contributions and find out how you can make a difference. Let's continue to advocate for reproductive justice together. • Green 2.0 has presented an annual Transparency Report Card for the last 6 years. We provide critical data on leadership diversity at environmental NGOs and foundations to illuminate the gaps and co-create a pathway forward for change. We had consistently been asked for a resource to elevate the field’s ability to equitably track demographic data. So, in the summer of 2021, we partnered with Keecha Harris and Associates to co-create this tool. KHA supported us through a detailed literature review, administering a survey on current demographic practices at environmental organizations, and creating an incredible guide to walk people through best practices in inclusive data collection. What really sets KHA apart is their thoughtful and caring approach combined with a push to think critically about our work. They’re not just there to get a project done and move on to the next thing. It also surprised me at how thorough and dedicated they are. The amount of data they had to pore through was almost superhuman! Their approach and philosophy of “relationship before task” fostered a working environment of trust. From starting every meeting with a personal question, to knowing I could bounce any idea off of them and get something helpful, honest, and constructive back each time - they felt like a seamless part of our team, transcending the traditional boundaries of an external consulting firm. - Adriane Alicea, Managing Director at Green 2.0. • "I previously worked for a different equity-focused consulting company. As a research consultant, I spent a few months collecting data, conducting interviews, creating and distributing surveys, and writing up a final report with our findings. However, once the report was submitted, I never heard back about the outcomes or what happened with the tool we were trying to implement.  I realized that doing research just to do research is not fulfilling or even helpful. Instead, we must ensure that research helps organizations actually do the work of becoming more equitable. As I mentioned earlier, I take my role as a sociologist and intellectual very seriously. This commitment aligns with KHA’s ideology, which focuses on bridging the gap between research and community to promote meaningful change. Conducting research within the confines of academia can feel like working in a bubble because most academic work is read only by other academics. What sets KHA apart is their dedication to not only producing and designing research but also implementing it in real-world scenarios to create tangible impacts in the Reproductive Justice ecosystem and beyond." • "As a sociologist and intellectual, I take my role very seriously. It's not enough to simply crunch numbers, publish articles, or quote prominent sociologists like Karl Marx or W.E.B. Du Bois in presentations. I believe our work should be impactful and tangible, aimed at improving the lives and outcomes of historically underrecognized people and promoting a more equitable, just society. I was pulled in by the Race, Healing, and Joy initiative’s goal to hold funders accountable to their stated commitments to Reproductive Justice: genuinely helping those closest to the issue(s). I also appreciated how the project uplifts the Black scholars, intellectuals, community organizers, and researchers who have cultivated the concept of Reproductive Justice over the last thirty years. This work is important and necessary and must be approached in such a manner." - Temi Alao, M.A. Temi Alao, M.A. is a PhD Student in Sociology at Emory University and a KHA Reproductive Justice Fellow. • The B Corp Certification is more than a badge of honor for our website -- it is a rigorous standard of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. After all, B Corps use the power of business to solve our most pressing global challenges. We envision a world where more money is placed in the hands of Black and Brown people for self-determination and robust contributions to systems change efforts. Excluding the talent and expertise of the global majority is increasingly more harmful and less relevant. So, it was a natural fit to go through the process to become counted among the B Corp Certified businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.
