Today, on #WorldDayAgainstHumanTraffickingInPersons, we remain committed to the fight to end worker exploitation and forced labor. 🌍 At Humanity United, our Forced Labor & Human Trafficking portfolio aims to address the power imbalances at the heart of this issue. We recognize that our global systems - economic, social, and political - often enable and even demand worker exploitation to maximize profit. Our mission is to empower those within these systems to lead the change. By rebalancing power dynamics, we can transform labor systems to be fair and just for all workers. Together, with civil society leaders, companies, investors, policymakers, and workers, we can accelerate the journey towards a world where human trafficking and exploitation are no more. ✊ Read our Forced Labor and Human Trafficking portfolio: https://lnkd.in/egT6jrvQ

In response to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres' call to action on #ExtremeHeat, a group of philanthropies convened by ClimateWorks Foundation is catalyzing an initiative for philanthropy to invest an initial commitment of $50 million in climate adaptation and resilience efforts in regions most vulnerable to the impacts of #ClimateChange, including extreme heat. “The climate crisis presents unprecedented challenges to our health, economic well-being, and safety. How we tackle it offers a unique opportunity to build a future where no one is left behind. Philanthropy can help drive positive social impact by supporting innovative approaches to climate adaptation and resilience, such as piloting community-based parametric insurance in India, building coalitions to advocate for debt reform for small island developing states, fostering entrepreneurship in East Africa to develop cold chain infrastructure, and scaling the use of solar-reflective ‘cool’ roofs. We proudly support this collective effort and philanthropy’s growing investments in adaptation and resilience. Together, we can create a more resilient future.” – Helen M., President and CEO, ClimateWorks Foundation ➡ Read our full statement: https://lnkd.in/gpJJgqm5 Arab Foundations Forum (AFF), Autodesk Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), Howden Foundation, Humanity United, Laudes Foundation, Quadrature Climate Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, Shockwave Foundation, Trafigura Foundation, Wellcome Trust #ClimateAction

As climate change intensifies gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work, women workers are rising against it. FORGE, in partnership with Devex, is proud to announce the launch of “Women Rising,” a narrative series spotlighting the intersection of gender-based violence and harassment and climate change in the world of work. The series explores the essential leadership of women workers, particularly migrant workers and those in the informal economy, as drivers of inclusive and disruptive change. Crucially, this series highlights women workers’ pivotal role in advocating for the the adoption and implementation of International Labor OrganizationConvention (C190), the first international treaty to recognize the right of everyone to work free from violence and harassment, including gender-based violence and harassment. Each piece explores the criticality of women worker leadership in shifting power and influencing policy.
