Public health planners and policymakers came together in Cairo nearly 30 years ago at the International Conference on Population and Development. They recognized that “reproductive rights are human rights and that women’s health is essential to global prosperity and opportunity for all.” At JSI, we are committed to helping ensure #familyplanning resources and services are available and accessible to all. We use #socialandbehaviorchange approaches to help enhance healthy behaviors, strengthen data use for learning, decision-making, and planning, and support the expansion of access to #familyplanning. Our efforts and support in #Egypt have resulted in helping double the estimated #coupleyearsprotection in 11 governorates. #WorldPopulationDay #HealthSystemsStrengthening #PrimaryHealthCare #IntegratedHealth

Inequalities in sexual and reproductive health and rights are catalysts for poor health outcomes. As we consider how we create a sustainable world for future generations, this World Population Day, JSI recognizes the urgency of delivering a comprehensive and integrated package of primary health services to women and families that meet their reproductive health needs. Through Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation support, the Improve Primary Healthcare Service Delivery and Strengthening Service Delivery projects enhance access to essential health services, ensuring that every Ethiopian woman receives the care she needs. These initiatives aim to build resilient healthcare systems that support sustainable and equitable health outcomes. Talking about #PersonCenteredCare is easy, but turning PCC concepts into tangible action is where the rubber meets the road. We used our #PCC conceptual framework to inform discrete standards for person-centered #HIV care, and now offer a tool that health facilities can use to measure themselves against these standards and chart action plans to improve service delivery. Identifying and reaching zero-dose children is critical to addressing the global #immunization gap. The JSI-led Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance Zero-Dose Learning Hub focuses on complex challenges by turning high-quality data and evidence into actionable strategies. The recently published Vaccines journal article explores the importance of determining age cohorts for measuring zero-dose children in targeted local surveys. The ZDLH argues that being flexible with age cohorts when conducting surveys is foundational for identifying and reaching zero-dose and under-immunized children because it allows for data to be broken down into subcategories. 🩺 The ZDLH found these key takeaways: 💉 ZDLH initiative aligns with the recommendation to include the age cohort from 18 weeks to 23 months. 🙌 Flexibilities with the age cohort for inclusion in targeted surveys at the local level may be an important principle. 🌐 More research is needed to better understand how the timing of receiving a DTP1 vaccine in the first year of life translates to improvements in ZD results in the age group of 12–23 months.
