🌍Routine immunization programs are essential for #globalhealthsecurity! They prevent outbreaks, ensure infrastructure for rapid #vaccine distribution, and protect vulnerable populations. Could primary health care be the answer? We tracked the impact of integrating HIV programs into primary health care systems in #Zambia, while still prioritizing high quality services. The new UNAIDS report shows the world is at a crossroads and currently not on track to achieving the UN goal to eradicate AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. At the #AIDS2024 pre-conference session on key populations and HIV prevention, Adamson NDHLOVU shared that 70% of CAB-LA clients enrolled through our USAID-funded DISCOVER-Health project in #Zambia had not been previously enrolled in oral PrEP. 👏 This shows how we are reaching new people and providing them with #HIV prevention, rather than just engaging those already using oral PrEP. This work reinforces the importance of choice, innovation, and accessibility for more person-centered HIV prevention. Thank you, Global Black Gay Men Connect and other partners for organizing this vital conversation on HIV prevention for key populations and to the Zambian Ministry of Health for your leadership in rolling out CAB-LA.
