Today, Independence First held a press conference to introduce a program that will provide free "bed shaker" fire alarms including installation for residents of Milwaukee who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing. We were joined by Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Fire Chief Aaron Lipski, Carlos Velazquez Community Relations Director from the Milwaukee Fire Department, and Mark Thomas of the American Red Cross of Southeast Wisconsin. The Milwaukee Fire Department is very excited and grateful for the generous donation of 100 LIFETONE HL Bedside Fire Alarm units from the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation. These units will be available for distribution to any resident in the City of Milwaukee who is Deaf or hard-of-hearing by calling the Milwaukee Fire Department Smoke Alarm Hotline and making an appointment at: 414-286-8980. The appointment will include installation of the bedside units and if needed, standard fire alarms.
